New style speculation thread...

So, there have been semi-serious talks about adding a new style on FP, and I am for the idea. So, I thought I'd make a thread where we can speculate about who will make the theme, etc. and even post your ideas for the theme(what you want it to look like, etc.). I look forward to seeing everyone's replies! 😀

(mods, please don't be mad at me for making this thread, just a healthy discussion)
 
Audentio makes some really cool designs. I'm unsure of how much they usually charge but I'm sure it would be worth it. They do make styles for a lot of forum softwares including phpBB.

But, see the main problem is the mods that'll have to be installed on the style.
 
Audentio would be a great team of people to go with 🙂
I know that, it could be nice to slowly introduce the mods into it, making it a secondary style first. There's really only a few core mods you would need just to have it as a secondary style.

I have to agree with you in some ways darth, but sometimes I feel it is better to go with individual designers, maybe designers from different teams that work together. It can be cheaper too.

I doubt mods would be an issue, although I do believe there is custom code that has been added directly into the templates, we will have to see 😉

Sounds great.... Unicorns. 😀

If there will be a new theme, I'm sure it will be by one custom designer, not one of those big theme websites with a huge resource of premium themes and such. I'm sure Fowler or Fergal will be able to find someone who they can make a deal with it, and save a bit of cash. This community itself actually has a few talented designers, it could be made by one of our very own. I think they ought to be able to get a deal though, as making a custom theme for a large forum is pretty good advertising for upcoming custom designers that aren't big names yet. Christian Bullock would be an example of that. I have a feeling the new theme will have a lot of green. I think it will still be light. I don't think people should be worried about a new theme though. I think the situation with the blog and the banner advertisements (or whatever the service was called) is more important. I'm also not sure if a new theme is even possible without a load of changes, as last I heard, there is a lot of MODs that are out of date.
 
Not much for gossip here.. I'll see it if/when its added. Until then I dont really care. 😛

Well, it was openly said by snobo that a new theme was in the works, so might as well, right? 😛
Services are important, I agree, and I gladly let them have precedence 😉 As for your idea, green could look really good actually 🙂 The mods should be easily transferable...

Not much we can do in regards to FP1. The only real options at the moment are to leave it as it is or remove it. I would like to remove it although people in the past have wanted it to be kept. When we do get a new style, FP1 will definitely be retired :yes:
 
A new style is a must, i mean this style is a very nice style but as Austin said on one of my thread.

So this theme has had a good run, I think a new theme or maybe even a new software will make things look abit more refreshed.

I'm glad to hear that. When I checked the theme it just doesn't match the current status of FP anymore in my eyes... Can't wait to see FP in new face! ^^
 
Why does everyone keep talking about a new theme when I haven't even confirmed that there's going to be one?!?!?!

Does anybody buy a word I'm saying?

:lol: I can't buy what you're saying if you don't give me a price...

Kik designs some awesome zetaboards themes but that's not even close to phpBB. But you'll only know if you ask her. I think this is what needs to be done. We need two things. First, we need the new theme and then try to hire a phpBB Developer who codes the actually software to install the mods for us BEFORE installing the new them. I'm sure he'll be able to do it...
 
The mod edits for a new template are simple enough to do ourselves (albeit very time consuming due to the sheer number of edits we need to make. We wouldn't release the style unless everything has been added.

Please don't take any of this as "we will have a new style soon" as when we have a new style is dependant on a few factors.
 
Yeah, guys. We have to finish building my castle before we even think about a new theme.
