I disagree. FP has had a dark style for around half of its existence.

Good Point Darker themes for a promotion/webmaster forum would be quite unique.

Maybe we could try another dark theme.

Ive just changed to the dark theme and it looks OK.

I would call this theme (FPX) a light theme. While there is a darker background, the foreground is pretty light. I think a dark theme (in the way that FP1 is dark) would be the best bet. That's just my opinion, though. It doesn't matter anyway because my pink castle isn't finished yet. In fact, we haven't even finished digging the moat yet.

I don't really think dark themes are very "inviting", I don't like spending my time on forums with dark colors because 1) They Hurt my eyes and 2) It would take a very very very talented designer to create a dark theme that actually works. 98% of dark themes are just plain junk, based on what I have seen.

I would prefer the theme to be Light or like FPX as I am not a gamer, I don't like playing games. I'm a webmaster and I come here to promote and discuss webmaster related things, not the latest shoot em' up games.

The current FPX theme works very well and I love it, I hope if you get a new theme created that you don't just settle for anything and seriously whip your designer to create you something out of this world.

Yeah I agree about not going down the dark theme road. I think it wouldn't really suit the forum. Something like FPX is and would be great it just needs to be more modern and better looking.

why not keep the dark theme we have here now, why remove it even if a new theme is added?

if it goes then i go unless of course the replacement theme is dark as well, then i'll stay.

We have to weigh up the benefit to the users of having FP1 (the current dark style) and the maintenance aspect of the style. The major issue we have at the moment is that FP1 is subsilver2 based where as FPX (the default style) is prosilver based. Some mods don't support subsilver2 based styles which is ok aslong as it is a few template edits to add links etc. When it comes to mods which add new template files then it can be a major headache. When it comes to adding/updating the services, it is not as easy to do either.

The number of people that use FP1 is very small and if we add a new style and keep FP1, even less people will use it. We can't keep it forever and equally for as long as it is there, we can't really forget about it.

Yes it may annoy some people in the short term although we can't please every single member otherwise we would never make any changes at all. Even if we were to make no changes, I am sure it would not please some users so really we are in a complicated situation. We have kept FP1 for just over 3 years since we released FPX so I think the end is near for that style.

This is true it can be hard to please every, even when it comes to owning a forum or site, for example facebook has 100 million users, when there new style came out, many people hated the design but many people liked it. bYT A NEW Style would make this forum look refreshed.

I Like lighter better, But darker is also Ok.
