The forum has a less "relaxing" feel about it now. I've always found SMF to be less user friendly, the skin you're using isn't all that thrilling (it was much better before you upgraded) and now there's not a whole lot to relate to the whole "island" theme.
Your going to find a decrease in activity due to the conversion and the passwords not being converted too... although in my opinion the forum looks better in SMF 🙂 im loving the style
Chirstian, once I get more familiar with the software, Im sure I could set up the skin to look like the old one somewhat or maybe even make up something better. 😛

Yes! Finally another SMF powered forum! I'm sick of seeing boring phpBB forums. I personally think the move was an excellent decision. I'm sure you could make a great-looking skin that would feel island-related though.
I'm not a fan of the new default theme, haven't had a look at the others yet though, i think i preferred the old one to be truthful, it had much more of an island theme about it, i don't find the new one as welcoming.
That's the third software the island's been on now -razz- I do like SMF though, i wish you good luck with it.

Well the name of the forum is more of a metaphor. Its a place to relax and get away from all the stress and drama in your life at a laid back place. Where would you find a place like this? A tropical island.. The forum itself is a reflection of the name, the outward appearance doesn't necessarily have to reflect that of a real island, but maybe in the future we will have a more island-like appearance.
I had an update to add so I just deleted the post and reposted the newly updated one. I guess I could have also hit the edit button... Either way works. I didnt really think about it until you said something. -surprise-
Thanks! I am having a lot of fun with this new software. Is nice to have something different than the norm. They have a lot of great mods/add-ons as well. 🙂
