It is really good for members to reply to those topics so that you can get feedback to decisions that have been made or achievements that have been accomplished..

But it would be really bad to let members start new topics as it is new from the staff to the members..

No way lol. With spammers these days (and idiots) I won't trust any registered member group to post announcements, I like to keep everything looking as clean and professional as possible 🙂

On my forum, I allow anybody to reply to topics on the announcement forum, but do not allow anybody else to create new topics.

I ussualy Let them reply, Only Staff can make an announcement. If i dont want them to reply just lock it.

Only Network Team members can create topics, but anyone is allowed to reply. After a new topic is made, the older ones are locked to keep from useless bumping by new members looking to raise their post counts -😉-

I do the same. I let people post in my news forum too.

Anybody can make new topics in the band updates, but only I can make topics in the regular news and updates forum.

Anyone can make threads and posts but my members know really not to do it unless I give them permission. So usually a staff makes an annoucement but members can post comments in the thread.
