News of the World Closing down

There will be millions of forums closing down before the world closes down.

I was being Sarcastic Matt. 😛 People expect the world to end. 😛 Millions of forums will close beforehand.

If Rupert Murdoch owns it, then good riddance to the fascist-biased newspaper.

Oh it's a newspaper. Thought it was about 2012. I read on a NZ news website someone former got arrested.

Yes it's a "Red Top" Sunday news paper and it's been running for almost 150 years.....

It's closing down tomorrow because police have discovered that they used private investigators to hack people's mobile phones, A young 13 year old girl went missing in 2001, Millie Dowler, they hacked into her phone and deleted voicemail messages, this hampered the police investigation because police believed she was still alive and was deleting them herself, turns out she was dead all along.

It's not just the Millie Dowler case though, they've done it to the 7/7 victims, One of the parents of the Soame Murder victims, dead soldiers killed in Afghanistan......the list goes on and there could well be lots more! When the staff leave today the offices will become a crime scene.

It's utterly outrageous, the lengths journalists will go to to get a story!

I can't stand the man!!!

Unfortunately this won't stop him, he's far too wealthy to even feel the pinch but It may hamper his bid to take over Sky.....I so hope so!

It's nice to see that the USA isn't the only country with majorly screwed up journalism, though. 😛

Oh God No!....even down to our local rag.....

When Conner was first diagnosed, they contacted me and were desperate to get in touch with Conner's Dad, the poor lad was gravely ill and they were wanting interviews!

It's enough to make you wonder if anybody in the media has a soul.

In the United States, the media covers court cases and turns the universe against the defense team. Look at the Casey Anthony trial. The prosecution didn't prove a thing, and that's why the jury found her not guilty. However, the entire world thinks that she was guilty and that the prosecution had all the facts when they were relying heavily on circumstantial evidence.

If the media invariably takes a pro-prosecution position in every case, can anybody even get a fair trial in the USA anymore?

Well Murdoch also owns The Sun newspaper which doesn't run on a Sunday, I'm pretty sure that given a week or two they'll just run a Sunday edition 😉

I think in the UK it's the opposite, they will dig deep to find something to make a person guilty regardless!
Take the Joanne Yeates Murder, her landlord was arrested under suspicion of the murder, he was hounded to death by the press and all sorts of dirty history was brought up about him, turns out he was innocent and it was another tennent that killed her.

To be fair, if Casey Anthony had been a man she would have been sent to the chair right away, so while she may or may not be a child killer and the world hates her, she's not dead yet.

Nah. Everyone on Murdoch's team is a God-fearing Christian. 😉 They go to church every Sunday. That excuses the fact that they lie and do immoral things to get stories, right?

That's what they do in the USA, too. I think you might have misunderstood my post a bit. The media all makes criminals look as guilty as possible so that the entire country is outraged if they are found innocent. Trials are supposed to be unbiased and impartial.

Justice should always be blind. I think the jury made the right decision in the Casey Anthony trial, but look at the Scott Peterson trial. There was even less evidence in that trial, and they gave him the death penalty. However, he's appealing, and they think he might walk now due to his latest appeal. That trial was also a media circus, though, and every media outlet took the state's side. It's sort of sad when even courtrooms are full of clowns from the "liberal" media. I don't necessarily think that they always send men to the chair, though. Look at the O.J. Simpson trial. It depends on the jury. Casey Anthony was lucky enough to get a jury of people who actually care about following the law and doing what's right.
