Newspaper and Magazine Ads

Has anyone considered newspaper and magazine publications to promote their forum? I suppose they would work as well as pay-per-click ads and cost as much. Has anyone tried to advertise in this fashion?

I have cost me like $15 to add my banner to there Magazine

In response to Empire, I'm sorry that happened, but I think the advertising wasn't targeted. Normally sports related stuff would do better in such magazines.

2,685 impressions, 5 followers it had. the first edition was read just under a 1000 times and I think the average read time was like 7 minutes (off the top of my head) hours spent reading was quite high.

The magazine was directly shared by Issuu 37 times, 1 like, 719 link-outs. Yet that was for the full book not for my add space.

I see what you're saying. However, I don't see why the audience would be interested in forums or internet marketing.
