Have you noticed how many niche forums (whether beauty/health related or even admin/webmaster) usually copycat the names for subforums? Just wondering, if this copycatting is actually purposeful or maybe they just can't think of better names for the subforums?

I've noticed this. I try to be very unique with my admin forum and its categories and board names. The main forum title in itself is something I am very happy about... I mean come on, Another Admin Forum, that is unique!!! LOL 😛
I have a niche forum. It seems that I've always run niche forums, actually, and there have been many times in which people have ripped off my site in order to make their own. I don't stress about it. Their sites always die in the end.
I prefer when other people try to be a bit more creative and I need to take my own advice a bit and try to spice up mine as well. I think mine is just the basic and I need to make it interesting and more unique. When something is unique it draws people in a lot better than when it's the same as everywhere else.
I have seen people trying to rip my ideas, forum names, and content off my website (they even ripped my theme). I usually don't take action why? Because those websites that rip content will die. I seen it happen dozens of times. And it is an ongoing cycle. If you want to run a successful website or forum, make it stand out instead of shamelessly ripping other peoples work. Spend time writing unique content. Don't copy/paste other people's work. Unfortunately, some "webmasters" do not understand that concept at all, which is why a lot of forums fail.
I have seen a forum or two being copied in the past, and it can get really annoying because it's your ideas which are being used. It's not that hard coming up with your own names. Why risk getting caught in the first place? just don't do it. 😛
