Board Software Usage History:
March 2004 to December 2004: AcmlmBoard 1.8a
December 2004 to 2007: AcmlmBoard 1.92
2007 to January 2009: AcmlmBoard 1.A2
January 2009 to present: phpBB3 (In order to find a medium to attract more activity)
History: I created my board on March 11th, 2004. Almost right away, I started receiving members. I created NFF so that people can have a peaceful board to post on and have fun. Within nine months, NFF accumulated more than 12,000 posts and over 100 members.
When the public release of AB1.A2 was released, I took the opportunity to upgrade my board since I believed the board would perform better. Little did I know that doing that would start a slow degradation of board activity. During the entire 5 years (March 11th anniversary) that NFF has been opened, I have never advertised (with the exception of a thread on one other board), or spammed needlessly on ANY board. I believe the total amount of people I have PM'd on any board is less than 10, so about 90% of the user base on NFF have been word-of-mouth from other people that have already registered on the board. So now I'm going around advertising to grab more members.
Records: NFF has had its share of records over the last 5 years in its existence. Two years ago, NFF had a massive posting spree day and accumulated 650+ posts in a 24-hour period. And as of yet, NFF has still has to pass the record of 10 users online at once. I am hoping to do that soon. I’m all for making new records.
Activity: Over the past 2 years, NFF has suffered a steady degradation in activity, and over the past 3 months, activity has been less than 50 posts the entire month. Zeros are now common and sometimes no one visits in a 24-hour period. NFF has accumulated more than 27,000 posts, but taken almost 3 years to accumulate 15,000 of those posts. I'm hoping that I can bring NFF back from the dead and get more activity. Note: I realize that getting the activity back to the way it was back in 2004 is too much to ask for, but getting 15 to 20 average per day should be an easily attainable goal. I am willing to go back to the old board that I was using if it's more comfortable for people to post in. (I still have the old archive which is only 7 weeks old.)
Conclusion: As the owner of NFF, I’m hoping to bring back activity to the board, even if only a little -- and also to fully understand what went wrong that NFF has hit just about rock bottom.
