No, it's not a joke. Today, Nintendo announced the 2DS. It's priced at $130 and will be available on October 12th, 2013. What do you guys think?

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the design, :/

I'm not a fan of the design as well. I like the foldable case design of the DS and 3DS more.

I like the original 3DS design much more (and don't plan to buy this), but it's not exactly a terrible idea. After all, it's for the people out there who either don't want to pay for a 3D effect they won't use or worry it'll harm their vision for some silly reason.

But you won't ever see me with one of these things.

A bigger size 2DS XL would be kind of nice since it can be used as a tablet, or media player for watching videos.

I wonder would Nintendo make a 3DS which uses those Blue and Red 3D glasses, or black tinted 3D glasses made of plastic which you use at a movie theater to watch 3D movies.

The point of the 2DS is to play 3DS games without 3D.

Im trying to say Its yet another version of the Ds, they make one, someone buys it, then another comes out.

Not really, the 3DS is the successor to the DS, and this is just another model of the 3DS. So in other words, this and the 3DS play games the original DS, DS Lite and DSi can't play due to inferior technology.

I really can see that they will considering that it releases along side of the new pokemon game releases.
