I heard on the radio that the Nintendo Switch 2 is out today? The DJ is 42 and was embarrassed to say he was excited to get it. I don't think he should be ashamed because his age group grew up on gaming! Mine started off with Telstar and Atari LOL

Are you getting it? What's the improvement over the original?

Yeah he shouldn't feel embarrassed lol. I still love video games. I plan on getting one later this year. I was going to trade in my Switch to get it, but seeing how my wife's Switch Lite is broken I'm going to keep the Switch and maybe trade in other things to go towards in store credit to lower the price a bit at Gamestop.

From what I’ve seen, the main improvements are better graphics, faster load times, and a larger OLED display, basically a smoother, more powerful version of the original.

I've heard people are saying the battery life of the Switch 2 is questionable. I was watching a video uploaded by the tech channel This Is where they were talking about the Switch 2. Within 15 minutes of them talking, apparently the battery went down 11%. Other people on Reddit have reported that the battery life wasn't great either. I know this won't be a problem for me since when I do get it I'll have it docked 100% and hooked up to my tv, but it's worth knowing this.

I got a preorder and picked it up at a midnight launch at Best Buy! I thankfully didn't have to choose between that and D&D because Best Buy let people come anywhere between midnight and 2am to pick up if they didn't want to wait till the next day. They had separate lines for those who preordered and those who had to pay the night of the launch, and everyone who still had to pay for one was able to get one, which was really nice! I was already considering getting an upgrade for my Switch Lite, so getting the preorder was my excuse to do so. I'm glad I did because I've really been enjoying it thus far, even though all I've played is Mario Kart World. My friends who have played other games have spoken highly of it too. I still have my Switch Lite for now, but I'll probably trade it in eventually towards the cost of another game once I reset it.

I haven't noticed any of the battery issues, but other than when I was doing the initial set up (which forces you to plug it into the wall anyways if you're not connected to the TV), it's been connected to my TV. Not sure I'll be using it too much for handheld play, but I'm happy knowing I have the option if I want to.

I didn't get one on release day. I always wait for a while before getting a console and I do this for 2 reasons.

One........I want to see if there are enough games for that console to warrant me buying it. If there are very few games, if any, that I am interested in then it's possible I won't get the console to begin with. There's no point in paying that much money for a console that I'm rarely going to get to play, if ever.

Two.......I want to make sure they get the kinks out. I always wait a little bit to get the latest console so they have enough time to get all the bugs out of them before making my purchase.

I will pass on it; I have the Nintendo Switch Lite and I haven't broken in that console when it comes to gaming.

It frustrates me when those who are gamers but older feel embarrassed to say they are a gamer or that they will be purchasing the newest console. I have been a gamer since I was around 3 years old (1989) and even though years ago, I wouldn't mention too much about being a gamer, now I do because I don't feel you shuold be ashamed to have a hobby such as gaming no matter your age 🙂

I have not as of yet gotten the Nintendo Switch 2, but I will be getting it when I can afford to. I know there have been a lot of changes with one of them being the output from the console. I believe it can output in 4K when on the dock now?

This would've been me (kinda) if I hadn't gotten lucky with a preorder. I knew I wanted to upgrade to a version that could connect to the TV so I could have that option, but I wasn't in a hurry to do it. My Switch Lite still works fine, and if it hadn't been for getting a preorder, I'd probably still be using it now and playing Mario Kart 8 or something else entirely.

This was me in my later years of high school, and I low key regret it. I had some friends that I was open with gaming about, but I wasn't overly open about it, and I wish I was more open about it and less ashamed about my interests. Now, I'm not so concerned about people's perceptions where that's concerned, and I've been more open about it, which has led to me connecting more with some of the people I work with as we talk about games we've played.

I wonder how the Nintendo Switch 2 will compete with the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and Steam Deck.

We don't have one but we (my husband and I) are watching people plays games on it on YouTube and Twitch. Maybe one day it the future we might get it once the price drops. 👍

We will grab one sooner or later for the living room for the kiddo. I do admit that I haven't kept up with it very much, but it is simply impossible to beat Mario games for family gaming.

I will probably get a Switch 2 some day. I just want to see what games they make for it, plus, I want to make sure they get all the bugs worked out first.

It seems like a nice device, but I'd rather grab myself a SteamDeck if I'm going to spend $500. I just don't think the exclusive Nintendo titles are worth buying the new devices now.

I just bought my son a switch for Christmas but I got the first one. It’ll probably be a few years before I buy the new one

So I thought my wife's Switch Lite broke, turns out the battery was just super dead and it needed to charge. xD I think I might trade in my Switch to get a Switch 2 at some point this year. I really want to get Tomadachi Life 2 and I'm sure future Pokemon games will be released only on the Switch 2.

I still haven't gotten one. Like I mentioned before, I'm waiting to see what games they make for the console and in the mean time I hope they fix any "bugs" that the console might have.

Side note, I know they have Hogwarts Legacy II in the works but I'm curious to see if they'll make it for the Switch 2.
