Ah, makes sense, I don't pay it much attention, in all honest, lol.

Looks like all of the free domain extensions that I know of use Freenom for their registrations. Hopefully that will be back in operation soon.

You can normally get a cheap domain for $1 to $2 these days so maybe those free domain names weren't getting much business.

There's always a free subdomain if you want a free domain. 😛 Some hosts offer free domains too when you sign up for a plan. I'm pretty sure Freenom is done for now, I don't think they'll be able to recover from this. I just checked freenom website is not accessible. I have used freenom domains in the past to create test sites.
