North Korea warns of nuclear 'sacred war'

North Korea is belligerent and unstable. Someone needs to talk some sense into them...

North Korea isn't the threat. It's the North Korean Government.

Obviously an inanimate area of land cannot be a threat.

The one fleet we have in the area is more than enough to wipe that entire country off the map.

With all their nuclear weapons, if we nuked them, it would probably set off all the stuff they have stored and take out a that whole entire side of the world.

I don't really see how that's funny. I think nuclear weapons are the biggest threat to humanity, and when a government (or dictatorship) like NK's has such weapons, we have a serious issue on our hands.

Read up a little on NK and you'll find that they aren't like the rest of the world. Not at all. A country which is developed so little with these weapons... making threats...

It's really scary that they could just wipe us out with a single bomb whenever they like.

What we really need to be afraid of is the Chinese, who back them. We would probably take them out tomorrow if it wasn't for the Chinese.

Its not funny, more of a humorous observation and pointing out that maybe it would be a bad idea to nuke them.

Anyway, we should not all sit here in fear of a bomb coming. If it happens at least you will die instantly (hopefully). I reluctantly put my faith in the crappy govt and hope they would be able to catch any security threats before they make it too far.

That sentence scares me.
Not true. For those outside the blast zone, the radiation and junk kicks in. You will die slowly and painfully.

Well at the same time, China is keeping the peace.

Wipe us out at will? Hardly. Even if they are a nuclear power, it's doubtful they're weapons are more than a few hundred kilotons and that's barely enough to destroy a small city. Any nuclear attack by them would result in our Navy leveling their entire government in a few hours.

This is worth looking at; http://www.nuclearterror.org/blastmap/index.html

I'm not sure North Korea actually has the capability to send a nuke all the way across the pacific. That's why most banana republics with nukes are not an intercontinental, rather a local, threat. That's why China is a worry, really. They could send a nuke our way if they wanted to.

P.S. EMP is the real killer if Iran/NK had ICBMs. One nuke could level our entire power grid if they could drop a weapon at a certain location in the central US.

If they wanted to, sure. But that would be signing their own death certificate as well. Besides we already have the capabilities to shoot down ICBM's.

No ICBM defense is perfect. Many ICBMs will break into 20 or so projectiles with nuclear warheads and rain down, requiring that all of them be shot down. Although we have some defenses, we are limited to the number of ABMs we are allowed by a treaty (if it's still in effect), as I recall, and they are far from perfect.

About half of the people in each of the Japan nuclear attacks died instantly, the other half led a slow and painful death.

That's the trouble you see, because N Korea has been a sealed unit for so long, no-one knows what capabilities it has, not even their own country folk? N Korea have always been a major concern for the western world, the UK and USA don't like the fact that we can't control what goes on behind their borders.
