I must've signed up for like 5 different forums and posted about 1000 posts in the past week or so. i'm up to about 1,000 backlinks {I checked} from a week or so ago, when I had maybe 500 or 600, and where am I on google for the same keywords now? Right where I started, on page 2, top of page. Nothing has changed.

My anchor text is my keywords {warrior cats} I post on on topic forums or at least as close to on topic as I can get {two for cats, two for RPGs, two for forums, one for "warriors"}.

I've checked--none are nofollow. They are all dofollow. I even went to a few of the sites other people had in THEIR sigs and checked the backlinks for them. They were coming up for the forums so they are dofollow and regularly indexed.

Checked the PR--generally at least 3, most are a 4.

I'd like to know how long I have to be at this before something actually happens. Is this normal?

It does take time for the google bot to search web pages. Bots won't always index forum web pages as there are so many. For PR, you will have to wait for the next PR update. Its not a constant thing, it happens around 2-3 months so my predictions are around now to the end of the month. So really, nows the time to optimize, get backlinks and content.

Okay. That makes sense. I know that out of many forum posts only maybe 1 in 10 or 20 might get indexed, but as I post daily on the boards, I will have no problem reaching that many threads. I only joined boards I knew I'd enjoy contributing to.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease 😛 I just have this paranoia that the 2 to 3 month interval already came and I just didn't make the cut for some reason.

I'll keep on plugging along 🙂 If anyone else has input on this though please feel free to reply!

Acorn, with a Google search for Warrior Cats, I see you on the first page, second from the bottom. With quotations, 3rd from the bottom. Note, it varies computer to computer.

...It does?

From computer to computer it varies? How can that be? I thought Google used internal logarithms to order up its results!

I'm seeing us dropping farther and farther despite putting in a lot of backlinks over the past couple weeks. From more than one source, too. I'm sorry I've been so upset over it, I just get scared I'm doing worse than nothing but actually hurting my spot.

Google caches what you search computer to computer, in order to give you the best query suggestions and feasibility, so when you search more things on one computer, it will have an effect on what you see, whereas I would search warrior cats once every 10 years ( 😛 ) and so it gives me a better reading on where most of the world sees it.

Just wait and see with the next google PR update. You'll see surprises.

That's interesting. Yeah I search that all the time, and never really click on MY site when it comes up.

Been searching it way more lately 😛 I keep forgetting Google knows more about you than the government does.

My holy grail is getting on the front page for "warriors" which is my top keyword...but as I'm at 412 right now I got a way to go. But the top result, while very optimised internally, is only a PR 4. So...there's hope. And I just found a blog I enjoy commenting on and that is dofollow 🙂

Thanks again David. It's all been very discouraging for me to not be seeing any results yet after putting so many hours in. I'd be fine with it as long as I knew that EVENTUALLY, it'll work.
