Thats pathetic, privacy no more? Internet is the only last 'free' place on Earth! Man, I ain;t gonna have no government agent jacking off to my video collection -evil-
I can't see why everyone assumes that the internet is just for spam and porn... Alot
of people encourage the abuses.. I say there should be no minimum age, and that
kids should learn about the Internet, be allowed to blog and email and do forums, and
actually learn social skills. Too many people think ASL is "everything".
I wonder if someone password protect their files will an insanely hard password like (=n[.9@SB|?(n0P+g7g{CEhmZStS-6SuiRxGWCOKg!😛t<~7PbcSZevAF) would the government confiscate their computer till they crack the password, or let the person go.
This can cause huge delays for people at airports because people will not tell the gov. their password, or forgot their PW, etc. The agents are too dumb to use a computer like if someone had a laptop running on linux. A large amount of people with no linux education will not know how to use it without help.
Oh, no! They'll find my many chat logs in which I say, "I went to fbi.gov at school once and typed in the search box, 'How to hack the FBI.'" I'm done for! 🙁
-roll- Do they really have to play James Bond with our laptops? Isn't there crime going on right out in plain site that needs to be dealt with? It seems like such a waste of time to me for the government to take on a top secret mission to find out who is sharing movies.
VPN + Double SSL Proxy + Five or six throw away proxy's and same with emails.
Mhm, no sort of aninymity at all <_<
It's possible, it's just a pain to make sure your ISP doesn't get in (which is where the SSL comes in, they watch you connect but nothing else from there). Your cookies and other logs can do you in as well, make sure you wipe them with with the gov standard 35 passes.
I think the careful people who are very paranoid about their privacy online usually piggy back on other people's wireless internet that is not protected with a strong password or any password, so when the cops come knocking it is on someone elses door.
Oh, and like Ghost said use Proxies.
People who respect their privacy can also use a fake screen names, bootable Linux operating systems which you can boot from a CD or flash drive since Boot OS don't have personal info about the user. Everything about the user is gone once your PC is rebooted since Bootable OS are Read-only.
Running Linux off flash drives can be a good idea, but then if the drive goes bad for some reason you're screwed. Always make sure you're using a SSL connection before you send any private data, and using a VPN takes care of most of it. I know a lot of people use Torand I would but there's not a Linux version (though I could use it with Wine I guess).
