Obama Re-elected

It's bittersweet, really. It's still a step in the wrong direction in my opinion, but at least war with Iran isn't imminent.

All I will say is that it was a very close race, both sides had their positives & negatives but in the end, 1 man was the winner.

Congrats Obama and lets hope & pray that the next 4 years will go better.

Dear Obama,

Please stop droning civilians and generally doing the bidding of conservatives and corporations.

Thanks,
Snobo

I actually supported him. That health care plan really hit it off.

Out of respect for the community here at FP, and to avoid any arguments, I will not post what I so highly desire to say. However, I must say that I am ashamed of America's decision.

President Obama RE-ELECTED!

Yay, President Obama has been re-elected and is on the stage about to make his speech as I write this. So glad he won, so glad Romney lost. Been on Obama's side for quite a while (and I don't even live in the US!).

WOOT.

Hooray, people will stop talking about the US election for a while!

Seriously though, I agree that Obama was best of the two candidates and should have won, but I'm glad to see the end of the campaigns and talk online for a few years.

I don't know what to think about Israel. I mean, he won't really just let them all die, right?

He can't, or a global war could be started. They tried to help and then they just leave this to day? That will not end well.

I am so glad. Now health care will be cheaper.

Yep cheaper and forced on you... No health care... you get fined... How nice... not

I feel the same way. I think Obama was the lesser of the two evils at the end of the day. The only candidates I liked lost in the spending (campaigning) competition against Mitt Romney.

I'm not sure what to think about Israel at all. I'm not sure that I like the fact that we've created a nuclear superpower in the Middle East just because we don't like Muslims. Of course, anyone who says that the USA shouldn't give all kinds of weapons and full protection to Israel over other Middle Eastern states is automatically anti-Semitic.

At the end of the day, is more intervention abroad really in U.S. interests or global interests?

As for the individual mandate, it's a step in a bad direction because it still leaves corporations in control of our health care. It also hurts near-poor and lower middle class people. We need a single payer.

He is my commander-in-chief and i would follow his orders. But his plans, the way he handles foreign policy, adding more debt in 4 years than president bush did in 8 years is astonishing, his healthcare law which forces people to buy health insurance and if they refuse to they will be "fined".. i just cant see how america would give him 4 more years. It also disgusts me how most of my generation(not all) don't do there research and just vote for Obama cause they heard he was a cool guy, etc. I have nothing against anyone who voted for him cause they like his ideals that's your opinion. It also disgusts me that people vote for him just to get free stuff and because they want to sit their lazy A** on a couch and collect welfare and dont even try to search for a job. while people are out there working their a** off to pay for that lazy bum. I support welfare as long as those people are trying to find a job, etc. This country is starting to drift away from the land of opportunity and starting to become the land of want and take and Obama sure is giving it to them.

According to Obamas plan, you only pay for welfare if you make over $200,000 a year.

People always say that our welfare system is highly abused, but that's a myth. The majority of people on welfare have been on it for less than two years. Furthermore, it's a myth that people on welfare have more kids just to stay on welfare. The average welfare family has 2.3 members, and only one in ten families on welfare has more than three children.

The fact is that the "welfare queen" is nothing more than untrue campaign rhetoric that Reagan invented.

Well said. It is hilarious how misinformed many are and then go off running their mouth as if they know anything other than the b.s. that was spoon-fed to them.

There is actually a 1% difference between the number of Whites and Blacks on welfare.

As for the statements regarding Obama and welfare, well, facts dont hurt either.

Regarding the economy.. it is getting better, it just takes time. Some aspects will get worse before they get better and they have and this is something Obama has said would be the case in his speech as a president-elect back in December 2008.

I am glad that he was re-elected and that we at least now have a majority share of the Senate, hopefully there won't be as much c-blockery this time around. I hope that Obama isn't naive enough to rely on bipartisan cooperation when the other party has always wanted to cut his legs out from under him.

Even in business, if a new CEO is taking over, and has a bunch of employees that are fiercely loyal to the former CEO, and only care about making the new CEO look bad, then it would be pretty naive for the new CEO to expect cooperation from these people. The best move would be to clean house and bring in people that you know will work with you to get things done. It is a shame that our gov't doesn't work that way.
