So I'm wondering how webmasters/analytics works, because I'm getting some pretty odd results.

For example, the most impressions we have are for these phrases together;
"create blog" "copyright * vbulletin solutions"

Apparently our average position for those phrases is 5, yet I can't find us anywhere.

Then apparently, the most clicks we've received is for the search "funny gifs", however we are placed 130 for that phrase on Google.

In contrast, one of our aimed keywords has only had 5 clicks yet we're ranked on the first page and said keyword is supposed to get thousands of searches per month.

Can anyone shed some light on this and help a newbie out? 🙂

Trust me, people send hours scouring google for things... I have in the past.

Don't forget each Google extension has different sites which rank well for a specific keyword. Whilst mostly the top few results are the same across all extensions, there can be slight differences due to content related to that extension, for example the .com.au extension will favour Australian websites, and so fourth.

I would not look into it so much..

That means you're having a good serp in one of those google extensions. Check your analytics and see which country tops your visitors. Then goto google for those countries and try searching with the keyword. That way you will have more luck on finding from where the clicks are being received!
