I'm looking to offer a membership that people can pay for on my blog and I'm trying to come up with some ideas on what I can offer.

What are some things that you would like to see offered if you were paying for a membership to my blog?

Edit: Just a note, my blog is literature based.

I’m assuming the objective behind this is to generate some income for you to help with site costs/encourage people to spend more time on your site?

For your blog you could allow the membership access to articles a few days before they are published to the rest of the site?

You could also offer membership exclusive articles that are only accessible to those with a membership and are not published to the general blog users?

Some things I was thinking about doing.....

- Members would be able to pick the next book I read from a list and then I do a review on my blog when I'm finished.

- I'm currently in the process of writing another short story so maybe members would have early access to my shorts stories before they're published. Or maybe I'll release the short stories to my blog instead of publishing them. Or maybe that is something I could turn into a podcast. I could read aloud a chapter of each short story to members and they could come back to listen to me to read them another chapter.

- I've thought members would be entered to win a gift card to either Amazon or Books-a-million or Barnes & Noble periodically but I'd have to figure the details a bit more on this.

What else can I offer? What can I do differently? Any input or changes you'd make to what I've listed above?

I don't think this is exactly what you said but offering members audio versions of short storires on top of early access to articles sounds like a reasonable idea.

If you don't run ads on your blog then "ad free" wouldn't really be beneficial.

Perhaps you could offer some way for members to collaborate with you and provide feedback on new short stories?

I apologize if that's everything you've said just in a different format.

This could be interesting....collaborate with others on my short stories. I've seen a few books at the book store where 2 different authors worked together to make that book. Is that what you're talking about?

Yeah something like that, if it is a decent group of people you could either credit each person or state that your membership group helped make this possible.

Or if you only want it to be one or two people and draw from a pool of people that are interested in doing it with you that could probably be an option too.

We do have a few paid subscriptions on Revillution that are pretty affordable and offer a few extra perks. We also offer some bundles for content creators to help get them a little extra exposure. 🙂

I've been thinking of a way to do paid memberships for my forum, and I came up with "Supporters" for account upgrades. Anyone that pays to be a supporter, all their funds will be contributed into games/poker tournaments for our community, added prizes.

I plan to add this soon after a couple more changes/upgrades are made to my site.

If you want to offer paid membership on your literature blog, I think the best option would be to give free ebooks to subscribers, or free critique to the subscribers' manuscripts.

Paid membership is a good idea but your forum has got to offer something tangible for people to pay for membership upgrade.

You should offer some snippets of stories you're working on as a sneak peek and maybe offer a free download to one of your completed stories. You could also share exclusive tangible items like bookmarks with "Fireside Chats" engraved on them.

Awesome sauce! I like this idea, Ravenfreak. I could give people a sneak peak of stories I'm working and see if that would be something people would be interested in. I also didn't think about the tangible items.......I'll have to figure out how to do that one. How would I make them?

I think Redbubble might be able to help with that? I know they allow you to add artwork to T-shirts but I'm not sure about anything else though. Might be worth checking it out though! There might also be a printing company around where you live you could possibly check out. Though I could imagine it would be more expensive to go that route.

Redbubble is a wonderful concept of physical products, such as T-shirts and others. Other similar services might be Printful or Teespring as well.

I think resources, guides, tutorials, courses and eboks could add value to your paid membership plans.
