Offer video game recordings

In my many attempts to offer something interesting and not found at many other forums, me and another one of my admins are thinking about offering to record video game footage in exchange for activity from people.


I'm just looking for feedback on this idea from people on here.

I'm not recording anything right now as I don't have any of the equipment needed to do so. But I do have a interest in doing it and would like to see if it could benefit my forum some.


I plan to get a laptop with a video game recorder and hook them up to my PS3 which will record what I am doing and then get it up on youtube for all to enjoy.

I have an HD-PVR, good for live streaming. I've heard Roxio Game Capture is better though.

It will be raw footage with maybe a 5 second opening/ending advertising my site link.

When it comes to capture cards, you really get what you pay for.
Video captured with the Roxio looks horrible compared to HD PVR. Personally I use the BlackMagic Design Intensity Pro for capturing current and the previous generation and it looks really good. Unfortunately the Intensity pro don't support older consoles as they usually don't keep to a certain resolution but since it only works with a set number of resolutions, the quality is much higher.

I would only be using it for PS3 and maybe Xbox 360 down the line.

So BlackMagic Design Intensity Pro gives better quality than the HD PVR? do you have any videos you uploaded with the intensity pro recordings?
