First of all, to begin with. There is no set way to price a forum. A forum is valued based on potential, statistics, traffic, content, members, design, activity, and more. One might see the forum as being worth $5,000 due to it's content and traffic, whereas someone with more skill who can monetise it correctly, may see it as $15,000+. The person who offered saw a lot of potential in the forum, and the fact that it's currently monetising at $10,000 a year.
I don't know how you could say the website is not worth the said price. We're at 1,500 daily hits and 20,000 daily page views, and under one year old. We're growing faster than thousands and thousands of communities. The site is definitely worth a 5 digit figure, but thanks for your opinion nonetheless.

I was just estimating based on how much Forumpromotion was bought for 1,200 or something like that I believe, and had more hits and views when it was purchased by its new owner.
I see great potential in your site, and believe it can sold for lots of money no doubt, but 20k this early is sorta unbelieveable lol

This is true. I mean I see the potential in your site, and Im not taking away from it by any means, just saying I dont know what the guy saw that made him offer 20k but it must have been something big and in the future, because itll take it awhile to get the site to making that profit!
I could see spending about 3-5k on it right now, this guy must have been thinking of the future haha, I just dont know if i would dish over 20k (about the amount of a new car) on a website you dont know will succeed or what itll do. if you get my understanding lol.

@211classclown & The Elite: You guys missed a most important factor on which people valuate a site.
Its their interest in their subject. If the buyer loves Runescape, he would obviously pay more to get it, because he wants to acquire it at any cost.
Consider, if he don't like admin discussion forums. He won't offer such an amount, for even a bigger sized admin discussion forum, than Rune Gear.

good going 🙂 i bet that offer is just going too motivate you too put more time and effort into the forum. there is no way i would pay $20K for that forum but that is because i don't have any interest in Runescape. i wish you the best of luck in the future and i hope next time you get a offer it's twice that

I think you should be pleased you got an offer like that but yeah keeping it is a good idea. Because if you keep it, it'll be worth more and 1 day you might think that you don't want to run the forum any more and then you sell it for a lot of money.

Dude, if its making $10k an year, than it is worth way more than $20k. Seriously, you can earn same amount in 2 years and can make it even bigger. Maybe one day you start making 20k an year 😉. Again, if its making 10k an year, don't sell it ever.
Keep working on it, you don't want it to lose value from this point. I know of a site that was offered a 7 digit figure and they rejected it. Since then they lost interest because they realized they made a mistake and now it's worth a lot less.
