OK! I'm ready! I've been thinking about this long and hard.
As you might know I'm kinda new here only been here for what less than 2 weeks.
My forum is that old. I took everyone's advice the first time and I'm back for round two.

1. I got a domain
2. Switch from Lefora to Forumer to Paid host (Thank god!)
3. Changed theme of site. (I'm still working on this)

What I need from everyone is your thoughts on how my progress has come along.
Please tell me what you like, what you think I should do and what you HATE!
I'm ready to hear what you have to say about all my hard work.

Ps I really want advice on my front page I'm still working the the content.

Thanks in advance!

I'm READY! :cheer: :cheer:

Not keen on the front page, but as you state you are still working on it.
Like the forum, looks easy to navigate and clean/fresh look.
Can i make a suggestion, Topic/Forum titles, some have been capitalised and some havn't..The same goes for the description.
It would make it look so much neater and appealing to the eye if they where all the same.

As stated above already, I dont really like the front page.
It's a so called 'Blog' template. it doesn't fit a movie fan site.

Some errors i found:

1. You are also post your fan work here at this site!
2. Welcome to the District 9 forums.
3. Copyright 2009 Your Website. Design by On Dieting.
4. At the "About" page there's only a youtube video. put more infomation or completely remove it.
5. 'Contact' opens a mailto script. you might want to change it to direct you to page with contact info.
6. The forum looks good, But for the forum titles: "News" is with a capital at the start, and for example "Welcome" is not.
7. News at the right of the page. There's no further information on why people should e mail you. or why they should change their account info. And it's a bit overwhelming, You might want to change it to 2 or 3 lines of news, and a 'Read more' button to direct you to the forum post with more info.

Apart from a slew of typos on the index page, the only thing that grabbed me was the fact that you have a ''Rules'' forum which seems quite unnecessary. Try making a board wide rules announcement or something.

THANK! I have raging Dyslexia. So i need all the help I can.

OK I've made some changes.
If the theme of the is so bad what should I do? I really can't make one anymore haven't worked with photo shop in 2 years and the themes I have made are ok.
Should I buy one?

No problem,
If you want i could correct all the grammar for you, and even help you with the homepage template.

Interested? Let me know.

P.S: I'm a webdesigner 🙂

Just some additional note's.

When i look for 'district 9' or 'distric 9 forum' or 'district 9 fansite' at google, I can't find your website anywhere. It's vital that you submit your website to search engines to get more traffic.
And also use good meta tag's and descriptions.

For the news section at the right,
The RSS feed button or whatever it is should'nt be at the top.
Rather below the news. As stated earlier, It's to overwhelming.

I see you followed my advice on the new's by placing a
'read more' link. Which is good. But you might want to add a news title aswell, since it still doesnt explain WHY they should send you a mail.

A good example would be:
Title: Registration issue.
News: Due to a recent change to a paid hosting company, E-mail hosts like: Hotmail, are not accepted by.... [Read more]

T_T is it really that bad?
oh forgot to say I've been working on the google issue. I've tried everything but no luck so far.
T_T I even did a digg post got on google in 18 mins but was taken off the next day.
I don't know how to stay on google. I've even sent google my link but I hear it can take over a month to get on that way.

Why bother showing off your site if it isn't even completed yet? I mean, we can't even judge on the frontpage.

I Fail.

She isnt showing off here site, She's asking for advice.

Try the spider mod for smf and use this site to send to search engines.

Spider mod - http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=143

Use this site for website submission - http://www.addurlfree.com/

As for hwo your forum looks,it is a nice clean theme. Probably one of the best I have seen for smf.

thanks for all the help. I'm trying to work really hard to make it a really good site. I'll be working more tomorrow after class.
so keep up on the tips.

thanks again

as soon as I find out how to add text to the middle every time I exported as a .html doc I can't write over the image I'm not sure if it has to a css style sheet first.
