Expectations? Thoughts?

I'm ready for Ryan Lochte to step out of the Michael Phelps shadow and take some gold medals of his own home this year. I'm very excited to watch how swimming goes.

Yeah I saw Lochte's heat, he looked pretty solid for a heat. Quite keen on how Phelps will go - probably not the 8, but definitely a solid number.

No plans of watching them either 🙁

-- 29 Jul 2012, 16:29 --

JOKE:
The Olympics are a great way of reminding myself of all the countries that I didn’t know existed..... xD xP

Lochte took Gold in the 400 IM with Phelps placing fourth, knocking himself off the podium.

Can I point out that North Korea is coming 8th with 4 gold medals....and I don't think Australia has done any poorer than in these Games 🙁

I've been watching some of the events these past 2 days. I saw some women's gymnastics, women's beach volleyball, men's tennis, rowing, swimming, etc.

Now they are among top 5 if I remember correctly. I have to say I was surprised as well. I didn't think North Korea would do so well in sports, I barely hear them in olympics... And with their current status of country, looks as if they are a bit too busy with internal affairs... But they did great. Just wow.

I watched badminton only in olympics. And I have to say I was disappointed when so many women double groups were disqualified for not playing fair, including one from my country, LOL~ Just so sad. 🙁

To be honest, I reckon they played to their advantage because of the system. I would never regard that as match-fixing when the system is terribly flawed. What type of system offers a disincentive for winning and an incentive for losing? That is the hallmark of poor IOC and BWF decision making, and great strategics of the coaches - unfortunately, the IOC and BWF won't admit their fault and decided to DQ those teams.

Silver medal for Andy Murray and Laura Robson in the mixed doubles. 😉

I'm really glad to see 'Team GB' doing so well; more so than I expected... currently at number 3!

It was cool watching Bolt do his thing earlier, too.

Mexico beat Brazil in the final of the football. I did not expect that. 😱
