Fanart Central has reached 100000 registered user accounts. Wooo Whoooo :cheer:

Project02-1-1.webp

Wow, well done. Keep it up (although it would be nice if every user made 10 posts so you would be on 1 million posts) :great:

True, but it should also be known that the sites forum is subservient to the main site where the user galleries are as opposed to a more common subservient home page serving as a forums front door. A lot of our users use the site simply for the galleries and not the forum. Many active accounts have no forum useage at all. Sad but....

I see. Well, if you made it so users have to make only 5 posts to enter the gallery, then you would have way more activity.

Anyway, keep it up. 🙂

Whoa... Congrats! Try sending E-mails to your inactive members asking them to come back. 🙂 You know how much you can earn by simply using your members database as a mass mailing list? 😀

Actually one of our moderators is working on one as we speak.

I've been watching this and waiting for days. Took us several years to get there but we got there.

This is crazy! Nice job 😀

No...what's crazy is this site is a competitor to Deviant Art.

Not only has it survived but it has survived to a hundred thousand users despite some significant setbacks and adversity including (but not limited to) an ED article slamming the living tar out of us.

Fanart and fan fiction is a major field on the internet, but Deviant Art is such a major player, they can suppress even an established site and bring it to it's knees, fledgling sites are almost bound to fall to them.

Of all the major players in the field I do believe we are the youngest, but I could be wrong on that. I'm not sure when SheezyArt launched but they are a ways out in front of us as far as registered users go, I have to assume they are older.

Congrats! How long has the forum been up for you to get this amount?

I'm not a founding member, just one of three co-admin. I was added to the staff in March of 2007 (Back then I was just an approval panel worker....never really thought about how far I've come along on the site). I keep forgetting I am relatively new here and most don't know me or my background yet. 🙁

I did have to do some digging. The site is older than I thought, but only by a year give or take a couple months, The site launched sometime in 2001 A major DB crash in December of 01 prevents me from getting an exact date.

According the Denis (the site owner) the forum was incorporated into the site shortly after the main site launch in 2001, a couple forum software changes prevent me from getting an exact date on that as well. I can't confirm anything older than September of 2003 when the site was switched to invision from whatever he was using previously, even he does not remember that.

We're currently running PHPbb 2 and have been so since May of 2006. An upgrade to PHPbb3 is in the works, but even I am uncertain when that will be complete and ready for installation, we just got back one of our developers but his coding has gotten a little rusty. Our development could speed up or slow down depending on how long it takes for him to clean the rust off.
