What type of things make you frustrated when you try to sign up online for things...banking, forums, anything....?

Yesterday, we ran into a frustrating situation where we had to actually call into a place to ask why we couldn't do what we wanted to do online. It turned out, we needed to make an entire new account online and then transfer everything over...THEN we could do what we wanted. ugh.

A CAPTCHA.

The last time I encounter one it stopped me from spending around $2,750 on some audio equipment I needed for my studio. Prior to that my partner who orders a weekly food shop for her elderly mother received an email stating they had updated their site which would require setting up a new account. Neither of us could get past the CAPTCHA so we switch to another supplier losing the previous company around $6,500+ a year.

I get really frustrated with the different apps I have on my phone. I’ll sign up for a rewards app (restaurants, gas stations, stores, etc), but it seems like I’ve been totally logged out every time I actually go to pull up the rewards app, with face ID/entering PIN no longer being enabled. I assume this happens when there’s an update or something. Gets old.

I swear Captcha will be the death of me.

I remove it from all forums I own until needed.

asking 400 Q and As just to join is just as bad, We all want fast and simple joinup

It’s funny when you go to register on niche specific communities and they have a custom CAPTCHA question related to their niche that I cannot answer. I’ve definitely come across that doing paid posting/post exchanges over the years.

Actually, I joined a Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL team) forum a while back, and their CAPTCHA question was something like this: “Who was the second string quarterback for the Steelers in 1987?” I’m a Steelers fan, but I can’t recite rosters from the 80s like that. Fortunately, we have Google.

Captcha is something that always annoys me when I register. In some places, it is quite simple to get through but then you have some places that make it difficult and in some cases, impossible.

I am all for having things safe and ensuring breaches do not happen but making it difficult for a human to register can often deter people.

Some sites really do make it difficult. Solving a puzzle definitely deters me from signing up.

I remember reading an article that says bots can solve these faster than humans can now...

I don't mind captcha, but some sites put really annoying ones. Items that have to be clicked in a specific order, and, on top of that, they are in a color that matches the background and are barely visible.

I don't like Captcha either, it's annoying when it tells you to click on the blocks where a bus is and all you get is a giant image of a bus that takes up six blocks and if you click on every block where a part of the bus is that doesn't count. :V Also some password restrictions are annoying too, for example my work's intranet has us change our password every six months but we can't use certain characters so any time I go to regenerate a new password via the "Suggest strong password" feature on Firefox, I have to change a few characters.

I also don't like restrictions on passwords. I really don't know why they even put it there. I would like to have a stronger password and it just doesn't let me.

I like quick and easy forum sign-ups, I dislike forums that force you to fill out a profile before you can post.

The newer reCaptcha's are a delight because you almost never have to do anything. However, to the threads point that is usually the most frustrating part of creating an account. It used to be so much worse though.

CAPTCHAs. Sometimes, they are the death of me. I particularly hate the ones that have you select a specific item in the blocks of images because I swear, I end up doing them like 10 times before it finally lets me through, and it's incredibly frustrating when I'm trying to do something.

This too. It's especially annoying when I'm trying to use the app for its intended purpose (usually either redeeming rewards and/or ordering food), and I have to go and look up my password because I can't just do fingerprint log in and I don't remember the password I set for it.

CAPTCHA makes me cry. I swear to god I put the monkey right side up, but it told me it was wrong.

I didn't even want to make a Roblox account anyway.

This captcha sets me off the most. It’s annoying and frustrating.

Which is why I recommend CloudFlare turnstile. CAPTCHA is almost 25 years old. It's ancient. If anyone still uses it, stop it. CF Turnstile is way more effective, replacing CAPTCHA more effectively than anything else.

What does it do, the Turnstile?

It separates the bots from the real humans. As a human, you wouldn't notice it being run and thus it would approve your registration without frustrations. 😀

Or something like that... Don't know the true technical background, but it's good, and that's good enough for me. 😂

I mean, do I need to do something on my end as a user?
