The appearance is not bad, the blue color goes well against the black and I like the header. We thought it would be a bit improved if you could not only use that color in just the logo but in other areas of the forum as well. I like how you can change the colors of the logo as well and you picked the right colors to juxtapose with the dark background. There’s a good balance of space and good usage of features. There’s no strain in reading the text. I was a little unsure of why the ad was there at the bottom of the forum if you seemingly have premium hosting with a TLD. I would actually change the index page of the site (not the actual forum) to something other than “Open Carnage”, it’s a bit too repetitive of a category title and it doesn’t really tell me much. It looks organized pretty well and there’s nothing too obtrusive or unnecessary. It loaded a little slow. I would also suggest maybe making the forums a little less concrete in color as mentioned above, there’s just too much of the shades of black. Other than that, there’s really not too much to be improved in this area and it’s looking alright, the announcements are good. It’s pretty versatile.
It was a little difficult at first for us to determine what this forum was actually about. Besides the fact that I personally didn’t know what “carnage” meant, it was confusing to figure out what actually the discussion what centered on. The posts in the “News Room” are looking really good and the pictures help explain the subject. A good amount of length is dedicated to each of these posts so it’s looking very good in that essence. However, it needs to branch out more in terms of uniqueness. It just seems like a one forum amongst hundreds of others. What makes this forum want a person join above others? I like how the chat is integrated in the navigation pane and shows how many people are in the chat without even entering it. The members’ posts in other sections aren’t really up to par though, the grammar and spelling isn’t too good.
From a standpoint, over 10,000 posts from just about 170 members is great. There’s always a good lot of people online at a time. But, on the downside, activity itself is lacking majorly. Looking into the board which usually is the most active, there are only about 3 threads that have had posts this month. This is something you can really work on, get your members to post in more areas of your forum that make it more usable and not solely focused on a couple of specific areas. The appearance and the index page were really the only things that could draw me in, we couldn’t think of any other reason to join though.
Your SEO could also use a bunch of work as well. I’ve tried both the root page and the /forums page and for both I’m getting a PR of 0. You also have an Alexa rank of 4,075,205 which typically a forum lasting for that long a period of time, it should be much higher than that. You only have 14 sites linking in which is very low at this point. You would really need to do some more advertising and do some more groundwork to attract more traffic to your forums.
