First off it needs a logo, secondly get rid of that phpbb default theme it don't help the looks of phpbb any and it needs all the help it can get. Would join but I am in the US and it would not do me any good to bitch about things in the UK.....good luck with it though.

The content and interaction at this forum is noteworthy. Since content and interaction is the whole point, perhaps you figured there is no point in worrying about the aesthetics.

However, there are a few aesthetic changes you can make that are not entirely trivial. For example, under the Last Post category of the forum listing on your index page, the addition, for each forum, of a link to the latest posts of the last topic posted in may get members and guests alike to the topics quicker.

Along those lines, seeing the topic title before entering a forum may help entice the viewer to check it out in the first place. If not clear on what I mean, a quick look at the Last Post category here at Forum Promotion will answer that question.

Of course, my suggestion assumes you can enable or add this option under your host. Indeed, in the "Ideas for improvement" forum, specifically the topic "New post notification," a moderator replied thus: "I'm afraid we can't add that feature. We are fairly limited on the development side of things."

Since 6-12 members dominate the activity of the forum, you may not feel justified in obtaining paid hosting. However, if it possible for you to get decent cheap hosting, changes can be made that may help expand the active membership, one of which was mentioned above.

Another possible change: use of the space below the logo and above the forum listing for a guest welcome message that includes information such as that given for the opening post of this topic, or the inclusion of custom blocks showing off some content from the latest articles or topics.
