New Arrival
We have had a little tradition on our site called Operation Christmas Cheer. It is just a simple effort to identify the elderly or the ill or the shut-in in our communities who could use a little boost by adding them to our Christmas Card Exchange.
This is our 11th year of doing the card exchange. Basically our members from all over the world sign up and send Christmas cards to each other. Operation Christmas Cheer is added to it.
The inspiration for this was my Mom. A few years ago, before she passed, she was in my home at Christmas and saw all the cards I had received from folks on our forums. She asked me how I knew so many people and she was shocked to see that most of the cards came from folks I had never actually met from places like Iceland and Malta and New Zealand -- all over, really.
After seeing her reaction I thought wouldn't it be great if Mom could get those to. So, the next year I explained to everyone on the forum my idea of including Mom -- and several others spoke up and said, "Can we add this person?", who was similarly in needs of just a little Christmas cheer.
So I'm inviting you, even if you're not part of the Christmas community online, to add someone you know to our list. There are no requirements and nothing is expected in return. We just want to reach out to folks who would like a little Merry Christmas from us.
