On most forums I have been on, and currently am on, the default smilies replace : ) with 🙂 - and to some that's actually annoying and I have seen some forum owners turn 🙂 into  and they do that with the rest of the smilies. What do you use for your forum? Do you replace the general : ) with a smilie, alongside with the other normally used emoticons such as : P and : ( - or do you let your members choose if they want an smilie in their post?

For me, I have the smilies censor the : ) and turn it into 🙂 - since myBB and most other forum softwares have "disable smilies" at the bottom of the reply boxes, I don't really find it useful to make it  or  when it can be disabled. I do however have  instead of <3 - so people can use the <3 all they would like. 😛

What's it like on your forum?

I have : ), ; ), : P, etc. I don't think I have any smilies that use :smileyname: actually. I just find it easier to type for people who use source mode.

I use  because some members don't like it when it automatically changes to an emoticon and would rather use 🙂 instead.

I usually use : ), ; ), : P, and then some of the others I do :WordHere: most like emoticons, and on the software I use you can select "I don't want smileys to appear" or something like that.
