Other ways to get your site out there?

Hey everyone, I personally believe that Forum Promotion sites don't work too much on the actual promotion side of things. Everyone is out to do the same thing for themselves, to promote their site. Not to check out others. So, other than forum promotion what other ways do you suggest to get your site out there.

I have a unique thing going on with my site, and I'm expanding on it greatly, making it as community helpful as possible, I'm offering loads of free games. WIth over 60 steam games I've purchase myself and over 100 steam codes that developers have given me mass codes for. Yet, I still cannot get much traffic to the site. Does anyone have any helpful advice for this? I've purchased some promotion, Page Links on top sites, advertised it on forums using tactical methods (Not spamming, just bringing it up in casual conversation when the need arises), I use all the social medias, etc.

So, once again, my question is, how do you all get your sites out there? What do you use to promote your site, and which method do you think is the best at gaining members, and active traffic?

How did you convince game developers to give you mass codes, if you don't mind my asking?

While forum promotion sites don't give you the results you want, they do eventually work. Becoming a member there, posting daily, building a reputation with the community will give you some members. However let's not forget the fact that most forums have so much competition it's not even funny, with new forums popping up like weeds and others falling down in the masses. It's like being a singer or actor, you might be able to sing or act but how unique are you, what other skills do you offer that the others might not offer? It's the same thing with forums, how unique are you and what do you offer your members in return of staying?

Forum promotion sites offer the resources for you to advertise your forum, however almost always do these resources require you to act upon them and use them. I'll agree that they don't give the amounts that you want, but like you said, everyone is out to do the same thing, so what can you do to raise the competition? 😉

I myself find if you poke around and join other forums often people will join yours. So usually if someone joins I'll join theirs.
