P2P Prosecution over "The Hurt Locker"

Voltage Pictures is trying to prosecute 5,000 P2P users for downloading the movie "The Hurt Locker." Voltage says it has a list of 5,000+ IP addresses and will be seeking $1,500 from each person. They are also requesting that ISPs reveal the names of the people behind the IP addresses.

What is your opinion on this issue? Is it legal for a company to subpoena records of IP addresses? Should ISPs have to look up all the users of the IP addresses? Do you think P2P users have a defense to these allegations?

This is a grievous violation of privacy. This is corporate greed at its finest.
