So I'm really wanting to improve my board to hopefully make it more successful and drive it forward to its fullest potential, so if anyone has any feedback they can offer I'd greatly appreciate it.
As a bonus question, has anyone else ever found the prospect of asking for their first board review a bit daunting? I've never asked for one before really and find it to be an initially daunting prospect putting my neck out on the old chopping block. 😛
Gotta say first and foremost, I've always been a fan of the theme. It's easily been one of my favourite since it was first added to the board. The idea being it perfectly suits the forum, the colours are unique, the rotating banner looks awesome, etc. As much as I hate to ask, because it really is a beautiful theme, have you thought or considered at all debuting a new theme for the forum? I think it could help freshen things up a bit, for users that have been around for awhile and for those that have lurked.
I can't say much about the layout. It's organized, well balanced and covers just about everything you need. I don't think I'd change anything about that.
It's hard to say much about the activity/general atmosphere, which is one of the reasons why I don't really get reviews myself. Like you said, it can be a daunting thought to request a review of something you've worked so hard on.
How often do you send out a bulk email? I joined 3 years ago so my email may not have been updated (most likely) but I don't think I've ever received one. I know it can sometimes be invasive or seem annoying, but once a month or every few months isn't too bad.
I don't think the forum gets as much credit as it deserves. It's outlived so many and you're really dedicated to it 🙂 I know this wasn't much of a review, unfortunately - but I do wish you all the best 😀 Hopefully I'll have have more comments or ideas in the future ^_^!
Your comments are welcome Kik. I have indeed considered putting a new theme together for the board sometime soon, as the current has been around a couple of years now and could be expanded upon. 🙂
I've rarely sent out bulk emails actually as I either forget the feature exists, or if I do remember I don't usually know what to send out if there isn't some huge event going on. That's definitely something I can look back into though to utilise, so thanks for pointing that out to me.
Activity can fluctuate from day to day but averagely, it's working out to be about 700 posts a month on an average based from this year and 2013. Day to day is harder because sometimes a day can be slow, especially on weekends or holidays, but then following days will surge to pick up the slack as members will have a lot to catch up on. So that's kinda lucky that slow days don't result in a huge overall impact to the monthly average we can get. 🙂
Any comments overall though are welcome, so even if you feel your post wasn't a review of sorts, any feedback of any kind, big or small, is greatly appreciated for the time you took to do it. 😀
