Anyone have any insight on to why small and new forums are getting Pagerank 5 even at a month old?

I even saw a 1 week old blog post with PR5.

My thoughts are that Google are trying to further decrease the worth of pagerank by flooding the internet with high pr websites.

Yes it does 🙂 It might have something to do with the fact we were discussing it too!

If they have that many issues with their page rank system why don't they just remove it altogether. I don't see its purpose anyway...people visit the sites they want to.

I'm not really sure why those forums are getting PR5. I see forums that have been around for a year and are only like PR1.

My forum is only 1.5 months old and is PR3, and it isn't very active. I was very surprised to see that.

My forum, used to be a blog, is about 1-2 months old now and is Pagerank 4. I am surprised by this, though it has had a lot of traffic.

It's not just PR5. All of my domains that have a website on it has went up between 3-5. Google may of just screwed something up that will be fixed soon. I don't know when this update happened.

Never knew what pagerank means, so I don't care, lol.
You can send a letter to Google to find out more.

Yes I agree to some extent. But I also know that I did days of SEO work and some of it payed of with this. I know it is inflated but still.

Generally, one would respond with the fact that PR is pretty much useless in terms of site popularity, worth and/or importance. In this case, I'd say that the site in question has a PR5 because of external SEO work and the owner's work in getting their site noticed. There could equally be other reasons such as a fake PR, paid backlinks, expired domain and/or a Google stuff up, but without seeing the site, it's hard to say.

PR already has a low reputation; when Panda came out, and a new algorithm came in, the focus has now shifted onto original and quality content, rather than how many links, keywords and the level of optimisation.

If you want to see site: http://AdminCentral.org I went from 0-5. I have only done some pretty standard SEO for my forum such as the regular mods for MyBB and a few small things.
I have no paid back links or anything.

I really think this is a google stuff up.

Even if it is a Google stuff up, why do people care? Having PR5 is not automatically give you a lot of traffic. Like I said, the focus has now shifted onto original and quality content.

@DavidL

I don't think anyone is saying about an increase in traffic and no one is disputing that the focus is original and quality content but that's not the point of this. The point of how shocking this all is and people want to know why. It doesn't matter how you value PR it is still a very odd thing to see. ForumPromotion is only PR4 and now AdminCentral PR5? That makes no sense. That's the point.
