In case some of you are looking for highly page ranked website directories to submit your forum to ... I have been doing this at an incredible rate for my forum, and when i do so, i always chech their pageranks.

So, our current LONG list of directories, have now all been updated with their current page ranks

viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5771

Be aware though, some of them require a fee to submit, while others require backlinks on your index page.

+ Rep's are appreciated , this took me about 2 hours to go all the way through each one.

And, your welcome 🙂

Thanx, bud! I appreciate the Rep 🙂 I feel like i got vertigo from staring so long at the csreen, and copy/pasting each link, and checking the rank, then submitting my forum.

Next, I'm gonn check out the Top-Sites listings 😀

+rep given, I think it's great you spent so much time doing that 🙂

The initial page of the directory has a high page rank, but the page you are listed on has no page rank, so in essence, you gain no page rank from submissions. You get back links if google indexes that page, but that page will rarely receive any page rank.

For example using one from your list: http://freewd.org/ has a PR of 3 , we will look for a games listing.

The first level you have to go to in search of games would be entertainment on this directory. http://freewd.org/Entertainment/ has a page rank of N/A meaning it still has not been indexed.

The games category that is listed on the second level: http://freewd.org/Entertainment/Games/ has a pagerank of N/A meaning it still has not been indexed.

A specifics page link, like where your submission would be listed: http://freewd.org/detail/link-872.html for example... has a page rank of N/A. This specific page, #1 on the games category list was submitted August 23, 2006 03:58:16 PM and still has not even been indexed by google.

So sure, the directories main page has a page rank of 3, and you're helping directories gain higher page ranks by putting a link to them on your site. But will you see visitors or an increase of page rank from it? Nope.

I look at it like this. Would I get a good rank having a page listed on forumpromotion.net.... yea, but if I was listed under forumpromotion.net/rats/rat-info.com would I get anywhere? I doubt it. I may pull a back link from it and use it for anchor text. But in the end, unless that page is linked to a lot and gains page rank, it wont ever send any my way.

Google updates pagerank every few months, those directory pages still have not been indexed. And may not ever be indexed.

Your pagerank comes from good promotion on your part from other sites 😀 So good job! It shows that you've been advertising well since the last google update a few months ago.

This was actually an unscheduled page rank update, as it was not supposed to be updated until the first week in July. I'm happy with it though, my new site is still new and had a PR of n/a, a jump even to 1 which it got, will help with SERP slightly.

But still, my point is valid and directories are worth one anchor text back link, that's about it.

But good job getting your link out there on other sites to get a PR 😀

If you really want to work on pagerank, work on getting your pages on sites that actually have a pagerank. Home pages are the best to get listed on. Having a link on forumpromotion.net is better than having a link on forumpromotion.net/adasd/dadad/fdasdfas.html

Correct.

Directories are about building link quantity, not quality. You will barely scratch any PR juice from directories. Remember to submit to directories slowly, don't rush these things, you need to make it all look legit.

Well, at least their there 😀

so memebrs don't waste their time on all of them, and at least use the higher page ranked directories for that extra "glimmer" of hope for advertising their site.

That was the purpose of doing that.

But please remember guys, your PR means fuck all if you aren't converting, this is the most basic tip I could give you all, do NOT focus on your PR. It means nothing if you don't convert your traffic and your bounce rate rises. You could do absolutely no link building, focus on users, content, users, content, content and more content and have your forum age a bit and you will steadily grow a natural PR.
