Pages arent being indexed

You can't rush these things, Msaver. They don't get indexed straight away. Google and other search engines have loads of urls to crawl, so it could take a while before yours gets indexed at all.

Alright thanks, i have some of them around 300 or so but some of them just don't seem to get indexed which is frustrating 😛

If your content is original Google will cache it from day one, if any content is duplicated from other sites, google tends to ignore it, it will cache it, but will not index it, thats why original content is important.

There are other search engines out,and whilst Google is number one, you need to think about other search engines too. it can take your site over a year to feature in organic searches, and despite what sites promise there is no way of beating the system, they will promise it, but if it was possible Google would be selling it.... wouldn't they ?

Is there traffic towards the site? You need to give Googlebot a poke. If people are linking towards your site or posts, then it gives Googlebot a reason to search and index.

Yes there are outbound links to my site, there is also traffic and i have been pinging. I suspect that there are a lot of pages indexed but there is equally a few that arent being indexed

i just looked on your forum and immediatly saw a google and yahoo bot, give it time 😉

plus you could try out some phpbb seo mods that might help, submit your sitemap etc;

Yes i have the Page Title SEO mod, is the keyword one necessary? I have a sitemap yes although it does not automatically update so will google still crawl new posts ?

You'll show up soon on Google. That was about how long it took for my site to show up as well, just keep on providing new content.

Sitemaps are virtually useless on forums, because the content changes literally by the minute if not by the second, and Google or any other bot does not crawl that often.

Sitemaps are more beneficial to sites with static pages, where the content only changes once a day or even less often, for forums traffic is a lot more important than sitemaps.

Try to build up popularity and backlinks to popular sites, like face book, also try to get backlinks on like minded sites as well.

No. Sitemaps only provide a list of links in your site for search engines, and there's no need for it to do anything else. Content is irrelevant and how it changes. In fact, Google encourages sitemaps for that reason, because it's convenient for them.

Source (my "Holy Bible" of starting to learn about SEO): http://www.google.com/webmasters/docs/s ... -guide.pdf

msaver, just be patient. Ashley and David both said it takes time, and you're right. Just focus on your forum and stuff and they'll eventually index you, sooner or later. If you want to do SEO, just remember it's 70% content, and then 30% of what's covered in the pdf file.

You should at least provide a sitemap which has the main links on your site, eg. the static links which do not change.

Thanks for all of the help guys. The problem is doing a lot yourself it is easy to forget the more important factors such as content as there are many other factors to running a website.

Any idea why?

Pick a random url and put it in google a lot of them arent being indexed, any idea why?
I can see why. The site takes forever to load. I'm using google chrome and it didn't load in under 20 seconds. And also, do you have a lot of backlinks?

Are you using Google webmaster tools? This can help you.
