Hey, I hope this is the right spot to put this..if not, Im sorry.

I was wondering if there are any great paid services to advertise your forum and will give your forum very high traffic? I wany my forum to become the best hockey forum out there so Im willing to put some money into it to help make it grow. Any suggestions that would be great! Thanks!

Well it's not the right place, maybe admin discussions would have been better.

My opinion:

Google adwords.

Hey Iginla4MVP, firstly welcome to ForumPromotion.

Secondly, at the end of the day people aren't going to join your forum if they see it in Google AdWords or another paid advertisising provider. If your forum looks attractive (in terms of the skin / style) and looks active people will be more inclined to join then if there are 0's all the way down the index page.

Assuming 'HockeyFever' is your forum, it's clear to see it's only just got going so using paid advertising probably isn't a great idea at this stage. In your early days, Post Exchanges are probably your best bet. Yes, have to put a fair amount of effort into posting on other people's sites, but at least you'll get posts and members in return. Additionally, whilst posting on other people's sites a common technique is to put a link to your forum and a description into your signature, as you'll get a lot of exposure that way.

So in conclusion, wait till you're a bit bigger before using paid advertising. I've seen lots of forums advertised on Adsense and they generally don't do too well regardless of the huge exposure they get. Stick to exchanges and posting packages for now 😉

We've tried google adwords on my forum, but we didn't get a lot really :S

I don't know if theres any other things like it though...

Like Murder he Wrote said. It's kinda pointless to pay for paid advertising, when your forum doesn't have much to offer. It's kinda like McDonald's paying miilions of dollars for commercials; but have nothing on the menu.

Take baaby steps. Use free promoting sites, do post exchanges, find sporting sites to affiliate, and build a foundation ... before considering paid advertising.

I couldn't have said it better. Only use paid advertising if you have a set plan to get a return on your money.

Google AdWords, MSN (or Bing) Ads, and Yahoo Ads are excellent sources of traffic and are used all the time by sites to get highly targeted traffic. One of the reasons you may not have gotten good results is because of your keyword selection. I'm no keyword Jenius™ but I'd recommend doing a lot of keyword research before throwing away cash. Look at your competitors' ads and see where they're getting the most traffic from.
