Are you using the paid version of ChatGPT?

I was using only the free version until a friend pointed out that' if anything is given to you for free, then you are the product'.

Even if I use a paid version, would ChatGPT still devour all my data?

What do you mean that you are the product?

Absolutely. At the end of the day, tools like ChatGPT are essentially Google Search layered with machine learning to generate smoother, more conversational output. But the engine behind it all is still data; massive, relentless, and often scraped from wherever it can be found.

Whether free or paid, the hunger for data doesn’t change. Just like with Google, the only real friction comes from prolonged legal battles, and even then, these companies tend to find creative ways to route around restrictions. Paying for access might shift the user experience, but it doesn’t fundamentally change the business model: data in, predictions out.

It’s worth remembering that AI isn’t magic (or even intelligent), it’s just pattern recognition at scale. And the patterns come from us.

I find Facebook messenger AI just as good as Chat GPT and saves me having to have different apps on my phone.

Yesterday, I asked ChatGPT what it knows about me.

I was bewildered. It left my mouth agape.
I mean it basically uses AI Algorithms to retrieves data from all your past chat history with it then complies it and gives it u like an answer think of ChatGPT as at Database

Nope I don't pay for Chat GPT, I don't even use it that often. I personally wouldn't pay for AI, but I suppose there is an audience out there for it that do need the paid version. I think most people here know my stance on AI, good for translations but isn't good for making art or videos as well as writing full articles, I think people should go back to using their own hands to make things.

Used to pay premium for all of them: chatGPT, perplexity, grok, gemini and claude. A waste of money, as their responses are still junk. Now I prompt any of them and, when I reach the limit, I go use another one 😀

I don't see the point in spending $20 a month when the money is needed elsewhere, that's more important, and on that note, you ahve an account with ChatGPT, after a while, a message appears that you end of your limit, and yet you still can keep on using it XD

Even when you use a premium version, you will still be tracked. The main point of using premium version is access to better and recent data.

I use it almost daily for various reasons. I do like it, and I pay for once of the higher packages. It helps streamline a lot of things related to business modals, questions, etc. I almost use it as a learning tool in certain scenarios as well. I will say, it knows A LOT about me at this point - probably more than it should 😳. But I guess that is the price you pay with some things. I would never share super-sensitive info with it because I am sure the data just gets reselled, or can be used for malicious puroses. But overall - I think that ChatGPT can be used as an asset if done properly. It really just depends what you would need it for and if it could be benefitial to you.

I use the paid version.

As far as what ChatGPT knows about you - you can't blame AI for the information you voluntarily provide to the internet. AI is just making search use steroids. You still put the information on there. AI isn't hacking private data, it's using open-source intelligence to gather its answers.

There are ways to limit what it stores to avoid privacy concerns

You have to enable in settings though

I am not really bothered about privacy as know enough not to disclose private information to chatgpt. I know how to frame my prompts so I don't let chatgpt into my personal details. I can't pay for chatgpt. It is quite expensive.

Chat GPT should keep it private anyway, it's coding like that
