So in the past and now with a few other websites I'm a part of, we've had paid posting opportunities. Soon we came to learn that you NEED to pay after the posting is finished because we've had a lot of problems with people running off when they're halfway through, a few posts short, or before they even begin. We've even tried the whole 1/2 now 1/2 when completed and we still seem to lose money because of people unwilling to finish their tasks.
So I've been trying tell a couple people that who are interested in paid posting and they're really upset that I only will pay upon completion.
How do you guys feel about it and what would you do or what do you do?
I don't even use paid posting services. If I need activity on my forum that badly, I will usually do post exchanges to occupy myself. It's a lot better than paying for posts, really.
I've had similar problems in the past when I was launching a forum and I can fully understand why you would only want to pay on completion. On the other hand, I can understand why posters are wary of doing the work, when they can't be certain that you will pay them. However, you are the one paying so the choice is yours. If you don't want to pay until completion, make it clear that that's the way you pay. Then the forum posters can decide whether or not they want to work for you.
The way i see it is that posters should get paid after they have done the posts.
The forum they are doing the posts for is the forum the person is going to pay owns. If they don't pay you after you done the posts, you know where to find the owner. You can then annoy the owner until he pays up. If you pay the poster first, the poster then can disappear and you have no way of finding out where he has gone and you can't contact them and bug them to get your money.
I have sometimes used this forum in that way, saying to people if i don't pay up you know where to find me. I am not going to leave this forum because i don't want to pay you a $'s. If i pay them first, i have no real way of tracking them down again so they can get away with conning you if the decide to run.
I only use paid posting at the start of my forums life, just to get the ball rolling, i tend to pay people i know and trust up-front, but others i pay after. I'm not one of those people that would not pay as i feel that is wrong.
The difference with this way of thinking is that you know the store. If the goods are not goo then you know where to go to get your money back. In this case the person you pay, you don't always know where you can get hold of them and where you can track them down again.
