Parents and controlling what you buy

I bought a video game now.. It wasn't with THEIR money -- but money they gave to me for a special moment. It was given to me a month ago. It was given and I was not told to 'pay it back'..

I still fail to see why they'd moan about it ... I am over 18.. I don't buy video games EVERY WEEK
It was a new game but I wanted it. So do you have parents who control you?

All my dad says is that 'it's a waste of money'... I used to not put them in their case. I do now however. He thinks that I don't play them enough. I'm not a big time gamer like some men are.

my parents never controlled what i bought my mom just asked me do i really need it and i ask myself and the answer is usually know then i go buy something i needed. and my dad owes me money

My parents don't care what i buy if I am use my own money that got as a gift or earned but it is whole different story if I am useing their money, even if it is only $5. For example, I use my parents money to get a video game they won't buy me a other game until years has passed unless it is gift.

the money was a gift -- I bought the game with the money which was a gift. If it was out of their pocket I wouldn't have done it at all.

Controlling your money would be them forcing you to return it and buy what they want you to buy.

All I see is parents voicing their opinions in the statements posted here.

you cant return a game you go get a new one of the same game or keep it no money return if you opened it

Exactly the same here. My parents didn't care what I bought as long as it was with my money.

My mom was like that till she gave up on me and shot her self in the head... now i live wit my dad and i do what ever i want and i'm only 15 years old...

nope, I work hard and spend my money on what I want. I usually dont spend too much money though.

My mother let's me get what I want, as long as there's nothing with profanity in it. So, she wouldn't let me get games with, let's say, an AO rating. But I can get most games.

i figured out the hard way like 4 yrs ago and i was not happy

Yeah my Mom will still complain abut things I buy sometimes. I just shake my head and carry on with my business. My Mom is always up in someone's stuff. If I gave her the stuff to my bank acct. she'd be happy. Then she could moan about what I "waste" money on even more. Thank God I'm over 18.
