Have you tried partnering with other forums or sites as a promotion method? More than just affiliating, an actual partnership. 😛
I haven't but it seems like an interesting concept to try. A while back I saw that a member here on FP was looking to start up a forum network type thing. Not sure how it ever worked out but that might of been worthwhile for all forums in the end.
I have tossed the idea around allot, and have tried it a few times, and every time I tried to do a forum partnership (networking wise), the other forum owner never did anything that would allow it to succeed. I had issues with the other owners not taking my ideas into consideration, not wanting to share staff powers between forums, and other stuff that would have technically helped out either forum in the network.
My best suggestion that I would make for anyone that wants to do a Forum Partnership (Like what you mentioned, a forum network), is to make it clear that both sides of the partnership is supposed to help one another out, since it would mean that both are to share responsibilities, similar to that of 2 or more forum administrators needing to work together to make sure that a forum is in working order.
This is one thing I've never really tried before. I think it's a very interesting concept. However, I do question wether or not it brings in much traffic or not. Has anyone had a good experience with forum partnering before?
I've tried it in the past - usually partnering with a blog/news site if I have a niche related forum etc. It is something I have tried to do with The Horror Forums but haven't found an ideal candidate yet. Stops me needing to search the web for news as I can just RSS feed the news into the forum and then allow members of either site to post their comments.
I have partnered with other Twitch streamers, and one blog before, but it really never did anything, nor did the owner/partner do anything to actually help, it was more like a "hey let's partner" without the partner details. 😛
However I would try again, if I found an owner that would actually take the partnership seriously. 😛
I've tried it, but same experiences as above. A lot of times they say they'll make it a real partnership, then pretty much do sod all to promote either of you or your websites.
