Well, at least contribute (with cash). Do you feel some people are clinging on to people that can help? Well, that's not saying some of those people might be rich - but even if they are - isn't that sort of rude? Well, definitely bumming off of a so-called friend who is poor isn't just.

OK, a little complaining in this thread - but I think it's justified. So who has been the victim of this? Tell us your story.

Never heard of an extreme point of this. I wouldn't even allow it to happen if it's my own project. But if paying to hire people then that's an different story together.

Welcome to the forum market where people expect you to build software which can be run on $0 free absolute trash free hosts which can barely support three simultaneous users without choking AND it's your fault if it does.

This has been a problem for many, many years for many projects and it frankly drags down the people who actually are willing to pitch in with a bit of cash for their own sites as MyBB, etc. make some serious compromises to support this nonsense, so instead of getting better, you instead support ever more exotic and dated configurations.

If only more people would actually pay for their own stuff, even turning their computer into a part-time server with Dynamic DNS and Cloudflare would be a step up.

This isn't even getting into the whole showing appreciation for developers' work, but when people are just being outright unreasonable and cheap. I only really develop for serious admins running virtual private servers and the like these days.

Well, what's your favorite color
And do you dig the brothers, is drivin' me up a wall
And every time I think I can sleep
Some fool has got to call
