Hey guys, you probably know I own Quifoo. I need opinions on the topic:

Paying For Ads - Is It Worth It?

Please be descriptive and NO-TYPOS. Why? The ones I find the most interesting will go on Quifoo for TOMORROW'S Article! I will pick a select few that at the bottom of it will say:

- NAME from http://www.yoursite.com

So the incentive there is getting on the frontpage of Quifoo.

I hope some people do this! Thanks!

Paying for advertising can be beneficial depending on what you are advertising and where you are paying for advertising. With free advertising it doesn't cost anything so if you don't get results, you haven't lost anything financially. With paid advertising you need to think about the people you are trying to attract and what audience the site you are buying advertising on attracts. If you are running a cartoon forum, advertising on a computer support forum will not prove worthwhile. If you advertise a cartoon forum on a childrens forum or a tv forum, you will get alot more worthwhile results. Paid advertising is worth it as if done right and you target who you want to attract then you can get good results. Alot of big sites offer advertising in visible places. It is just looking around and finding a site that has an audience that matches yours.

Buying Ads is like buying a new energy drink; Your money could be well spent or you could have gotten screwed. It all depends on what sources you use for advertising and what content you are advertising. Also, I find that advertising can be a lot cheaper if you purchase straight from the blogger/owner rather from his publisher that he uses ( ex: BSA ).

Indeed. There is no middle man taking his cut.

Yea, I know. Was just generalizing though.

Yeah I know but to say who cares, isn't the right statement (not directed at you).

Well it's just sexist.
Well arent we the feminist grammar nazi. 😛 jk
Im sure no women are offended by his choice of words or would even mention the fact that not all site owners are guys. Its just the way people talk.. If I see a group of people talking at work I will go up and say "What are you guys talking about?" even if there is women in the group. Nobody cares there. Nobody cares here. No need to nit pick at people's choice of words. 😎
