I was hoping to get a new laptop this year and finally have Windows 11, but it looks like we spent a ton of money already this year, so I might be waiting until next year. My computer's processor won't load Win 11, but Windows gives the option of paying $30 a year to continue receiving security updates for those who need to stick with Win 10 past October of this year.
I'm not in that situation but you really can't be too careful when it comes to digital security. I'd say if you are likely to use the device to connect to any site that holds your personal data, pay for the updates.
Issues like these are pushing many people to Linux. For anybody considering switching to Linux, I would highly recommend Linux Mint. It is a powerful, user-friendly distro with a huge repertoire of software that can be installed with a single click.
