So I am super frustrated with PayPal at the moment and how open they are with their users. I had been advised to open a business account so that I could keep my business funds and personal funds separate and I figured, yeah I should do that so I don't confuse things and it would make things easier.

So I create a business account and get started and I use my business account for the first time yesterday to receive a payment which would have helped me so much at the moment.

Here is the problem, my funds are now on hold, I can speed up the process by doing the following:

To get your money sooner, please complete ALL of the below graduation actions:
! Received 10 Transactions: No (Received 1 so far)
! Received 200.00 GBP in TPV : No (Received 104.32 so far)
! Have no disputes for 60 Days : No (1 days so far)

If I don't do that, I will eventually get my money but it will not be released until the 8th of June. Now bear in mind I have verified my identity with a government-issued ID and also with my bank account as well and even sent it information with my address on but that is not good enough.

So now I have £104 sat in PayPal that I can not touch or use at all until 8th June or until I complete the tasks above which well, will take longer.

Has anyone else had any issues like this?

That happened once soon after I upgraded mine to business, and it was because the amount was above the threshold for the instant balance. But in my case, I don't think I had a required transaction amount to avoid it. Just had to build up transactions with low amounts, before the larger amounts would instantly be processed.

This happened to a friend of mine on Facebook. He was so mad because he needed the money to pay bills and didn't expect PayPal to hold his money for such a long time.

Well it works just fine for buying things.

The issues always come from Sending/Receiving money from other PayPal users. They tack on fees, the put holds on the money, they make you jump through hoops just to get your own money, etc. So yeah, that part sucks.

Thats why I mainly use it to buy things, online shopping and the like. I've even paid for things with PayPal out in the real world at The Home Depot store itself, there is a little icon on the checkout screen at the register there. Foot Locker lets you do that too (and some other stores I think).

Can you transfer the funds to your regular account?

You can't transfer a pending amount it HAS to be in the person's account.

I had this issue with a smaller amount I made a formal complaint to Paypal against it's processes and got my payment as a once off.

PayPal can be a pain in the.... Call the customer service and speak with them to know if they can do anything to speed it up. If not, ask if it's possible to downgrade your account from business PayPal.

I tried, does not allow me to unfortunately as the funds are on hold. They claim the funds are mine but I can not do anything with them. Not sure how it makes them my funds if they are stuck. It's a shame as I was needing it at the moment and PayPal have messed me up even further.

Downgrading the account wouldn't do anything in terms of the funds becoming available faster. Business or Personal accounts, if they are holding the money then it will be held until the requirements are met.
