Acer takes action over Sandy Bridge fault

Intel has hit some serious trouble with its latest and greatest Sandy Bridge processors this week.

After shipping them out last month, the company discovered a flaw which didn’t emerge in the normal testing process. The issue is with the Cougar Point chipset, and is a problem with SATA ports and potential degradation leading to failure of connected devices such as hard drives.
