Could this not be a seperate thread with the above archived as its a completely different forum. I had to start again as it messed up and the backup failed.

Sure, I went ahead and split it. 🙂

Design Quality
[note]========== BEGIN - Design Quality ==========[/note]
I'm very impressed with the design of PeakForums. Everything is laid out very well and the design is very clear. While everything looks really good with the design, it actually seems a little hard to join. What I mean by that is while the "Create an account" button is put in a easy to find and generic spot, that's the only place I see where I can join PeakForums. You have a very good welcome message below the logo, and it would be a really good spot to add a "Sign in" and a "Register" button to help users register quickly, easily, and conveniently. Even if you don't think that the welcome box would be a good spot to add another registration link, somewhere that a guest could see the registration link/button quickly upon their first glance of PeakForums would be something that I'd highly recommend.

Originality
[note]========== BEGIN - Originality ==========[/note]
Originality, on a general forum is one of the toughest things you'll attempt to conquer while you're running PeakForums, but you already knew that. You've made a good start with a good theme, and some rarely seen features. However, at the same time, you still haven't became a unique general forum. While you've done pretty much everything you can to make a unique forum so far. Regardless of features and themes, conversations are the main thing people come to forums for. To make PeakForums into a unique general forum, you need to make sure that you and your members have some unique conversations on PeakForums. I'm not saying you haven't done this so far, but this is the most important thing you can do to improve your originality.

Site Structure
[note]========== BEGIN - Site Structure ==========[/note]
You could use some more boards on your forum. Your amount of boards is very good for a brand new forum, but you could definitely add some more to the "Other Discussions" category. Right now you only have two boards inside of it, and maybe adding somewhere for your members to advertise their forum might be a good idea, and maybe something else as well that I currently can't think of. While it's better to be on the conservative with boards when you first start out, you could definitely add some more without overdoing it.

Final Remarks
PeakForums is off to an awesome start the second time around. You've done a great job starting off so far, just make sure to stay active and always keep adding features so you can compete with other forums. Best of luck in the future with PeakForums.

1) What do you think of our new dark theme?

I love it. I think everything about is sleek and professional. Two thumbs up on the overall layout too.

The only thing I would edit is your banner. I like the moving image in the background, but you should really have a banner/logo to distinguish yourself and some material to advertise your site. You can check out the graphics section here at FP or create one yourself. It could really help.

Sorry I don't have too much to say, I like the theme.

2) Are there any areas where we could improve in?

You have two forums with absolutely no posts as of yet. That doesn't look too appealing to members trying to join your site. I would recommend adding some posts/topics into Interviews and Adult Cafe.

You're a general discussion forum, so the content you currently have is good. I like that you have a lot of posts in each section and it definitely helps sell the forum as there is discussion going on.

3) Would you add any new forum sections to the index?

This I can't really answer as it isn't my site. The only advice I can give you is to really think about what you are passionate about. From there you can create forums that you know you can be active in. This way you can stimulate the conversation and create the posts necessary to keep the forum going.

4) What kind of features would you recommend for the forum?

This is a tough question. I'm not to up-to-date with all add-ons and stuff, but I think what you have now is pretty good. I like everything you have. The only thing I can advise on is that you can check out other sites and see what they add to their forums and go from there. Maybe something will catch your eye.

5) Would you join if you saw us for the first time 🙂?

Yes I would. It looks like you have quality content, it's pretty active, and it isn't ugly! Great work 🙂

Was cash actually deducated from my account or is it just a post as I used the code CSFP?-569 for it which should make it free 😉

And regarding the sections without posts, it is actually hidden from public view which is why it doesn't display any last poster information 😛

No cash was deducted. Check out the note I said "Free with coupon code."

You should make those two forums not visible to guests so they don't get confused then. 🙂

We just keep it hidden to guests as some of them may contain some personal topics and to add some sort of privacy

Maybe you can put disclosures in the forum description that say you only get access to these if you register or something like that. If enough people are interested in what is in those sections they might join.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have actually seen that on some other forums as well so I'll get to adding that on those two boards :great:

First Impressions
[note]========== BEGIN - First Impressions ==========[/note]
My first impressions are excellent. Everything seems to be in its right place, the theme is simple yet nice, the banner area is great, and overall it's a real nice site.

I think the "Staff Online" area is a hit or miss with me. I know that at the bottom it shows who is on, but sometimes staffers go invisible. Publicly displaying which staff is on could potentially be hazardous in the future once you get more popular. This could be something hackers and harmful users might use towards their advantage to spam your site, try and get into ACP, or any of the above. That's just one thing I would be aware of. I mean from a user perspective it is great because if users have an issue they know it will be resolved quick. One question, if the staff member chooses to be invisible, are they still displayed there? If all staffers are invisible that might be a section you can get rid of as a whole, especially if the admins are invisible.

Just some thoughts.

Overall, first impressions are great.

Design Quality
[note]========== BEGIN - Design Quality ==========[/note]
For a MyBB theme, I'm thoroughly impressed. Everything seems very "modern" and sleek. I'm impressed with the way everything is laid out and the color scheme. For a general discussion forum, I am satisfied with the colors you have chosen. I love the bright almost neon blue. Great choice.

I mentioned the Staff Online earlier so that's covered. It might be a coding issue, but something that should be fixed because a lot of people do things

My only problem is that when I minimize the site on the right or left hand side, things are overlapping. I'm using Google Chrome and your whole section on the right, Staff Online, Board Stats, Recent Threads, etc. are overlapping areas aren't overly attractive.

Site Statistics
[note]========== BEGIN - Site Statistics ==========[/note]
I'm assuming your site began early August of this year? I'm just guessing by your News section.

I'm okay with the stats you have for being open 2 months. 3,500 posts is totally respectable. That's about 42 posts a user. It's not a horrible stat.

So it looks like the majority of your posts are in "The Lounge." That's okay, I'm happy when I click that that there are only 300 posts in Forum Games. I was nervous that there would be a ton of posts there. So overall, not bad. I would start focusing on developing your other sections to boost post count and activity by users. The more enthralling your content, the better off you are as the owner.

Originality
[note]========== BEGIN - Originality ==========[/note]
So this will probably be the worst category. I feel like sometimes when people just want to open a website they automatically go to "Oh let's open a general discussion forum. It will get a ton of users."

I feel like that isn't the case anymore. It's really difficult to get members because there are so many genres of this forum around. Nothing personal against you, just how it is.

The only different thing I see on your site compared to others is the "Adult Cafe." I don't know what's in there, but that would help me if joining because I do like mature conversations sometimes. So nicely done there.

Overall, here I would say average. A lot of people open these kinds of forums and unfortunately they aren't a success.

Site Structure
[note]========== BEGIN - Site Structure ==========[/note]
I think your site is structured well. There isn't much to talk about here. Your sections and forums are very clear, that way everyone knows what you mean. So nice work there.

I see "Groups & Upgrades." Don't see anything about upgrades though. Is that a members only feature? I would maybe look into changing the category name if that is not the case.

Overall, again not much to comment on. It's structured well.

PS Just one question - why does one have to be an upgraded member to have a signature?

Spelling & Professionalism
[note]========== BEGIN - Spelling & Professionalism ==========[/note]
Overall, I am happy with the way your spelling is. No comment here other than excellent.

Your staff seems respectful to other users and it looks like there is quite a good atmosphere between users and staff.

Please don't mind this section being short - I'm overly impressed with all of this. Your best attribute at best.
[note]========== END - Spelling & Professionalism ==========[/note]
Excellent

Final Remarks
So I think you are off to a good start. Your a general discussion forum, which is pretty self explanatory. I don't need to remind you how to base your content or any of that. Your staff is friendly, active, and professional. I would recommend using and leading them to create better content on the site for regular users. Content is very important in a general discussion forum and has to be current and fast paced. Otherwise you don't have a shot. I would just work on the couple of things I mentioned, not many things though. Overall, I'm impressed with your site, I just see so many general discussion forums and yours really doesn't stand out to me one bit compared to others.

Biggest like about the website?: Banner
Biggest dislike about the website?: Lack of originality
What could I do to make you (the Reviewer) join my website?: Create something utterly unique that no one else has.

All staff are not invisible as I don't see any problem with them being visible to users.

Yeah I noticed it too but that's just a problem I guess that cannot be fixed with myBB. We are however looking for a mobile theme.

Upgrades is a member only feature although we are planning to merge the groups forum so its easier to understand and cleaner looking when logged in

That is a benefit that you get from being an upgraded member to try and encourage more people to be more active and upgrade their account. This also discourages those people that register, post once and add an advertising banner in their sig

Thanks very much for your opinions and feedback. Greatly appreciated 😉
