People hate gays but.

Democrats don't represent the left, though. 😛 The left is only represented in the U.S. by Greens like Jill Stein, and they can't even get into the debates.

I'd actually be pretty interested to see where the country really aligns. I doubt its as polarizing as it seems. I know in Canada, our Conservative and Liberal governments arent that Conservative and Liberal. We've had gay marriage since '05 and we've got legal weed coming later this year. Yes, the healthcare does come with taxes but the money my family has saved from that coverage is insane.

Federally, gay marriage may have not been accepted till around 09, but in many states it was lawful since 1990s. Lot of people don't like mentioning that fact here because they like to pretend gays are oppressed because everyone wants to play pretend in a pretend world like they are fighting for something that literally ended decades ago. Come on Trump administration was the first incoming Administration that supported gays. Obama didn't support them till mid-way through his first term, but people gonna hate nonetheless.

Federally it wasn't truly accepted until 2015, no? And from what I recall Massachusetts only approved it state-wide in 2003? If you've got some sources for gay marriage being legitimately accepted by any state government in the 90's I'd love to have those.

Gays were oppressed - there is no pretending here. We still are to an extent. Yes, its become a LOT more socially acceptable to be openly gay these days, but that hasnt always been the case. I've had people try to beat me up for being gay, I've had people shout stuff at me. I'm not even flamboyant or "visibly" gay in any way. Because people knew that I am was enough for them to act out. That's why we still have Pride and that's why we have to keep fighting for our rights to be treated like everyone else.

Edit: and for context, I live in a pretty progressive part of the world and this stuff was happening. I can only imagine what goes on where people arent as accepting.

And I mean yeah I remember Obama was not for the LGBTQ community during his first run - which is super shitty. I think he only changed his tune when it became a strategic advantage over the Republican party at the time. See: US Politics are super fucked up.

Let me tell you something I have seen Christians get beat or even killed a lot longer. Even here in the US even more so now a days and some people are becoming radical to the idea that is socially acceptable. Even Buddhists are being isolated. While Islam is on the rise as the "acceptable one" in society.

Buddhists are the most peaceful belief on the planet. Yet it seems real peacemakers are being more widely hated while oppressor's are being loved. Stockholm syndrome has become a serious issue among left-wing ideology. A reporter was arrested and imprison for questioning Islam in the UK regardless of 1,000s of UK citizens protesting for him to be freed and "freedom of speech" the infamous mayor has decided to stab freedom of speech in the heart saying after the UK visit that people should be arrested for speaking anything that may offended someone else.

Oppression is being traded off. Oppression is taken away from one group and given to another and vise versa in a cycle that no one seems to try to stop. While gays are being thrown off buildings in the Middle-East we treat gays here in the US very well, but pretend they are being oppressed even worse than over in the Middle-East where they are killed just for being one or worse I never once seen any protests about that, why is that?

Why is it morally acceptable to oppress one group over the other? While the left used to preach "tolerance" towards other have given up their former beliefs into claiming anyone who doesn't follow their beliefs as "fascists". Which is essentially fighting what they believe is fascism with their own form and worse way of fascism which in some cases more radicalized.

While LGBT group sues anyone who doesn't serve someone they should ruin someone else's lives because of a differ in opinion. It isn't going to kill a gay couple to find a different cake shop, pizza restaurant, etc. Like the situation at Ren Hen and Sarah which she handled VERY WELL (Which would have seen as sexist if it was a left-wing woman). She didn't sue anyone and she didn't make a scene about it. The media did and it blew up claiming the restaurant owners as "heros" for refusing service to someone, but someone is essentially the devil if it happens to anyone on the left? Not sure how that works. But if the hypocrisy continues on the left the midterms and the next 50 years of politics are going be extremely harsh to left-wing point of views as things continue on, may be harsh but it is the truth. The media isn't doing the country any favors by pushing radicalism of the left.

Longer? I mean Christians are probably still the largest and most accepted group of people in the country. Which is like, the total opposite of the LGBT community. I totally understand that people kill each other over religious differences as well, but comparing Christians to the LGBT community in terms of who's had it the worst? I'm sorry but I dont ever recall it being illegal, or gross, or perverted to love another Christian. Maybe back back back before it took hold of the country and the Colonies we're still a thing but I'm pretty sure it was worse to be gay then too so..

Nobody who is worth a damn thinks its morally acceptable to oppress anyone whatsoever. There are people who just don't understand that being in a community that faces oppression doesn't mean you should oppress or discriminate against others. Whether its Christians, Muslims, Jewish people, gay people, straight people, black people, eastern people or whatever.

That whole wedding cake ordeal was stupid. Businesses should reserve the right to deny service to anyone. At the end of the day it's their bakery. They may get some bad yelp reviews and they may make enemies but its their business and thats their decision. Hell I know that I wouldnt want a cake made by people who arent accepting of gays and that's my decision. Should every bakery that refuses service to gay people sue me because I refuse to use them? Fuck no - I have the right not to use them for my damn cake. But this is a fine example of the radical leftists, not the entire left.

If you reaaaally wanna see the radical left at work theres a few tumblr pages you should look at haha.

Pew Research and a few other Colleges have brought out articles on their own websites have stated and I quote, "Christianity is the most prosecuted belief on the planet." 2nd to that is Buddhism.

As for seeing radical left I get it enough in life as it is thank you. Being hated for my skin color (white), being hated for being as lefts call it "straight white fucking male" which some how compares to Nazism is enough hate as it is for simply believing in immigration control, secure borders, jobs, rule of law, etc or even watching a black man getting hate and being called "not really a black man" because he doesn't have belief in leftist views. 😛

The leftist identity politics has hurt the left in a "The Boy Cried Wolf" kind of way. In other words, real acts of being a bigot are ignored (say cross-burnings, truly mean insults) while so much is focused on catering to people's pansy oversensitive feelings. Anyway, as mentioned in another thread, some democrats are waking up to the fact they won't win elections unless they drop it!

I can agree that "liberals" in the U.S. are far more wrapped up in identity politics and microcauses when they should be worrying about much bigger issues. I think that's why people hate liberals.

Well, where I live there are quite a number of big issues. For instance, a mixed couple (black man/white woman with mixed kids) was harassed out of the valley!

But see, compared to a college campus, that's real issues.

Some well-known person said that all the geniuses are either alcoholics or gay. There's some truth to it. Since I came out as a gay, so much pressure gone, that's the reason for the above-mentioned low criminal rate. And I think the lowest crime rate on the planet now is the Internet and Gay Hookup sites.
Hope I won't be discriminated for my opinion. And hope it helps:artist:

I've seen that harassed out of valley thing mentioned a few times and I have questions... Before we say it's due to a mixed race relationship, are there other plausible reasons why they might be wanted gone? (For example - have they not paid their rent? Are they causing disturbances in the area like spousal fighting or letting their kids cause problems? Are they picking up after themselves or leaving trash all around? )
I know in my own area there's a couple that is not well liked... but it's because he's a drug dealer who peddles poison to children. Police know about him but refuse to do anything because they want his supplier.

I ask because, to be blunt, I'm always skeptical when someone immediately launches into race as the reason for why something happened. Perhaps it could be, but we have to be sure it's not something else first. Especially since, as cold as this sounds, there are people who like to play up their victimhood status. (Yes, there are people who will absolutely use "it's cause I'm <some descriptor>". At my work there is a person who if you disagree with them on anything or try to tell them anything they default to "it's cause I'm gay isn't it". It has nothing to do with that at all. It has to do with the fact they are doing something wrong.)

Also, the whole identity politics needs to stop. It has never helped anyone. Nor will it ever. All it does is divide people up into tiny groups and create an othering effect which makes it very easy to dehumanize others and take ever more radical actions against them. (This was what Hitler did to the Jewish in WW2... He painted them as sub-human monsters. As the root cause of all Germany's issues. Which made it a lot easier for his troops to do horrible things to them.)
It's how antifa can more easily take a bikelock to someone's head... because they view them as nazis and less than human. (Which is sad really, they are completely oblivious to the fact that using violence in such a way is exactly what an actual nazi would do. That they are in effect the very thing they're purportedly fighting against.)

Here's the thing, everyone has their own struggles and issues they deal with. And they're very likely going to be completely different from your own. But at the end of the day everyone is still human and still wants the same basic things... To be loved, to have a warm/dry place to stay and to be fed.

No, racism is real nowadays. It depends on the area - and this is, well, a really backwoods area. Now, if this was some college campus or something, then, OK, I might see the case of oversensitive types using race.

Now, even on college campuses, assuming they're more white than usual - indeed, bullies go around picking on non-whites and liberals - just like, probably at some all-black college they do the same - in the opposite direction.

OK, scoop on white supremacists in my area - is they're all into drugs, they're bullies, a lot of them have been in jail. Given they're (the racists) such scum, why would I believe their probably made-up stories about how some mixed raced couple with 4 kids is a drug operation or something?

Oh, and also, given these racists are into drugs - why would they vastly concerned about some black man bringing drugs in the neighborhood? No, this sounds like a thing where they've crossed into what some view as a white neighborhood and nothing more.
