Is it true that webmaster who have ads care less about visitors, and more about the money?

It can be true for some webmasters with lots of ads on websites especially webmasters who don't write their own content, steals/scrape other people's post from forums and blogs, and write poorly written articles with tons of spelling and grammar mistakes, but have tons of pop-up and in-line text ads.

But, a lot of the websites and forums which I go to have a lot of ads, but they offer a lot of useful free content for me to read, so they obviously care about their readers to write good content, or hire a writer to write content for them on a daily or weekly basis.

I also been on websites with no ads, or very few ads but the content, and articles were not very interesting, and seem like a bunch of keywords stuffed together to make an article, or the website is being used to trick people into believing in something which is not true or very biased.

It's very hard to say something like that, for one everybody is different. Some are, some aren't.

Nobody represents webmasters that have advertisements.
Nobody should.

Nope, you are more likely to care about your visitors more if you have advertisements as you want to keep them happy to keep getting clicks.

Though nobody should ever open a forum just to make money as it will more often than not fail.

I agree, people who have ads want to keep everyone happy, so people continue to visit your forum, and link to your forum on their websites, and blogs which make you more money because you have more visits, so you can pay for a .com domain name, and faster web hosting instead of using free or slow cheap web hosting which can be unreliable.

I agree opening a forum just to make money or to get donations will most likely fail if you don't work on creating a community.

Ads are tools and in themselves cannot be used to determinate if the owner is not caring or not. I've heard this statement of the title in the past, but many times the people that said it are...

1. Used to get things delivered to their hands. if someone else could have a great board with no ads, then everyone must be able too, if not then they don't care. They don't realise different people have different situations. They just assume that if someone can give things with no apparent effort, the others are being lazy or inconsiderate if they claim to struggle to do it.

2. They have not experience or information in costs and needs for running the place they are visiting. It is easy to assume that because there are other places around it must be not big have a place, but sometimes to keep quality or cover needs you need to spend money or make deals that include ads.

Most of the people I know that have ads, they use the money for the web itself, they use it to pay for the host domain, renew the url, etc... many just wants to have a bit of what they put into back, more so than becoming rich, it is more like getting a bit to make it more affordable to juggle RL conditions with the attention a website needs.

Re: People say owners care less about visitors because of ad

I’m not visibly running ads on either of my forums right now but that’s not to say I have no plans to make money with them. There are several ways to skin a cat, just because I’m not displaying “Google Adsense” banners to my users, doesn’t mean I don’t care about the site.
There really is no right answer here IMHO. Each person is going to start a forum for their own reasons, if they choose to show banner ads or contextual advertising that’s their own thing.

TLC = successful forum

It is not about the money at all, I for one care if people enjoy my forum - ads can be interesting, and give a little visual content to the forum - especially if the subject matter of the ad is of interest.

Of course the money comes in handy to help with the running costs of a forum - high revenues can actually help place up cash competitions or prizes for posts in the future.

That is exactly what i want to do from the revenue created from the visits to my forum - give out prizes in the future for things such as top post, best thread etc.

Anybody who thinks they are going to make a fortune from revenue due to ads is completely nuts anyway - a few dollars a day is not worth giving up your day job.

Another reason for ads would be the future paying wages to mods - if my site starts to make money then the fruits will be used to pay my mods.

Re: People say owners care less about visitors because of ad

I agree money from ads help improve the user experience for a forum since the revenue helped me with buying prizes, faster web hosting, a domain name which is a .com instead of a .info, and additional costs of running a forum and website.

I think I be more worried that a forum I joined, and like have no source of online revenue since if the owner loses his real job, or went bankrupt the forum might get closed due to not having enough money to pay for web hosting, and a domain name, or the user experience will be worse because the owner is trying to save money by moving his forum to a free host which may be less reliable or as fast as a paid host, using a sub domain like sub-domain.co.cc which is harder to remember compared to typing a .com domain name, and no more cool prizes or competitions.
