I don't care...

That alone reflects very badly on you and your forums. Seems to me like you only care about your own opinion.

Bravo...just Bravo ~rolleyes~
Yes, my forums have really failed because of it...

I don't care, I'm not having a 10 year old moderate my forum...mature or not. Plus he said he's mod of 15 other boards which he really shouldn't have told me because now I'm definately not making him a mod lol.
Also, A ten year old can get you into trouble. COPPA violations. You have to get a signed letter from his parents saying he be a member of your forums.

Unfortunately though, violation of COPPA isn't really a prosecutable offense. I wouldn't imagine the child's parents taking Cloverfield to court for letting him post on the forum ~lol~

phpBB may as well remove the COPPA information, because nobody looks at it anyway. We've even had 12 year olds sign up and be staff here ~eeeek~ - not that they do their job badly or anything.
I believe I was only 11 was I was hired into the Forum Promotion staff, and I was awesome, and continue to be awesome. -8)-

Anyway, you'd be surprised how many new members ask to be on the Packages Team. In my overall experience of being the Packages Team Leader here, I've probably gotten 4 requests like this from users who had less than 10 posts -- which is 4 less than I wanted. On my own site, I've gotten 1 or 2 requests like that, and they were ignored.

No, ego was far more appropriate.

It's not the first time on this forum you've demonstrated insane amounts of pride on this forum either. ~wink~

So I only care about my own opinion because I don't want really young children moderating my forum? Okay...

Pride in a successful forum is a good thing. Also its up to the admin/founder who they should choose to be staff on their forum. After all he is the one who paid all the money for the software and hosting. I wouldnt want small children (such as 10 year olds) as moderators on my forums either. -8)-

As Snorki said, I don't have offshore hosting. I am hosted with LunarPages, and their shared servers are hosted in California. But that doesn't mean I actually have the COPPA enabled. I (and a friend of mine who runs a successful forum) agree that it can discourage registration.

There's a big difference between being proud of your work, and being big-headed about it ~wink~

Dude, seriously, if I wanted to be big headed about my forum you would know about it. Travis is correct in stating I am 'proud'.

Now let's not steer this thread off track 😉

I totally agree, I don't think young children should moderate huge forums like the CMF

I don't think age matters at all. For example, Carsonk said he was 11 when he was hired here, and from what i've seen he's always done a fabulous job.

Age doesn't matter the slightest bit when it comes to choosing a Moderator, the quality of their posts does, and how well they can do their job.

I don't care about age myself, as long as they do the job right, I'm happy.
Carsonk has been a moderator on my forum since January (before he was 13), and has done a fantastic job, whereas another staff member from October, who is about 14, hasn't done as well. He often misspells things, has poor grammar, etc. He's good, but Carsonk is better.

I think it's maturity that matters more than age.

But then again, the CMF would in Cloverfield's eyes probably look less professional if it had 12/13 year olds modding it

I've had this loads I think a person has to show that they can be active on a forum before they're promoted to mod. I tell that to anyone who asks me now 🙂

I usually just ban these people to start off...
Seriously, all they do is ask, and ask, and ask...
