Over the year, I have came over atleast 4 or 5 people who absoloute thought their forum was the biggest thing alive they thought that it was everything they thought that it would do so well if was a positive fail. They never had any board rules, never applied any staff to boards, no board descriptions, spelling mistakes in categories and much more. They never had got one member, and in the end of all of that I believe they turned round and took a fit at their computer screen because it was fail.

What do you guys reckon of internet snobs if that's what you wanna call them?

I think that there are some people who look at the successful forums and think that being like them is a piece of cake. However, they don't realize that the cake is a lie. They don't want to put in the required amount of work to have a successful forum, and they get irrationally angry when their site ultimately fails.

There will probably always be some people who you could classify as "internet snobs", imo.

yeah.absolutely true. a successful forum requries dedication and active content.

Not that I don't agree with what you are saying, but it seems rather odd that you are the one to say it. I mean, looks at your first sentence, it ain't got any grammar itself. :/ Pretty big run-on sentence if you ask me.

I think that was why I got tired of my forums in the past, was because I spent so much time looking at how succesful other people's forums were, and then I'd get all jealous because I wasn't even half way to where some of them were. Hopefully I'll be smart enough not to let that drag me down this time.

Yeah, it takes time. Some people start forums and are successful virtually overnight, others don't get as successful as quickly. And a lot of uncontrollable factors can affect that as well, such as public demand for a certain kind of forum.
And in my opinion, until your first forum is successful, I think you should stay with one and see it through. Otherwise, like you said, you'll keep trying and keep wondering why it isn't working out time after time.

Honestly it seems like the fourming community has gone down lately, just like the ever falling economy here in the US. Just like its hard to find jobs and do well over here its hard for people to create and run successful boards lately.

People who put no effort into their board but expect it to do well need to read up on how to run a successful board, and iam by no means siding with those type of people.

I know. It does seem like forums are going downhill like a heavy rock, and that's what's sad. People will create a forum, leave it up for about a year, and then it dies or shuts down. It's hard to find a good, active, fun community to post in anymore. And it seems like if you find anything even halfway decent, they've been closed for months and they're letting spambots or spammers in general take over and that's what's sad.
