One theme in theology is that people cannot claim pride for their work. In fact, all denominations believe this to some extent - though with reformed theologies it's more in tune with what they truly believe (The other ones are sort of making up ways to get around the problem.).
Anyway, I was tuning into the right-wing radio host (on YouTube) Michael Savage last night and while I sort of nodded in agreement on things, I realized so much of what he was saying was self-righteousness. I mean, of course, bums need to get a job. Of course, young people need more a backbone. 🙄
I guess, what I'm trying to say is that so much rhetoric has no soul to it - because it's all pride, and of course, it gets resentment.
