5 years ago we lost a good forum duo. Forum Promotion had a partner in crime, phpBB Communities was another promotion forum, I would love to one day bring the forum back, but I don't know how many of your remember it.

If you do! post what you remember 🙂

Yeah I heard about it but that's it

I never heard of it to be honest. phpBB isn't as popular as it once was either, so I wonder if having the name with phpBB in it would make it anymore difficult to start back up.

Nostalgia is great and all but there isn't as many communities using phpBB these days. After a quick glance at the directory here and over at TAZ, forums using phpBB seem to be in the minority. Not sure how well a promotion forum with a software bias would do in 2017, especially one that is biased towards a software that is becoming less and less popular.

That being said even FP switched from phpBB this year. So even less of a chance of anything working out as everything has gone XF, VB, or even IPB. And the forums that use free software use MyBB.

I miss it 🙁

Same haha it was good!

Yeah I heard about it but that's it

It was amazing! Until it's slow death...

What's happening with it now?

Oh it's just a white page now

Gone, gone into cyber space never to be seen again. phpBB Communities: The Final Frontier.

Yep

That's quite true! There seems to be more focus on social media than forums now :/

Yeah I know, @Gio mentioned the names bad rep which I recall now haha

Have they all gone?

An easy theme uploader is included in the MyBB package, unlike with PHPbb. Does anyone know of any other perks?

It was amazing! Until it's slow death...
they all have to die one day consider that it's an free version and they didn't had the extra cash to keep it going my guess

Nope, from what I know, that's not the case. It's a much worse story. 😛

As a member of staff on phpBB Communities, I knew that the forum was forced into a sale, the original owners didn't want to sell. so out of revenge they damaged the database and left broken code. there was so many bugs the then new owners just closed it. no warning or anything it just was gone.

but if they own it they did not have to sale it!!!!!! damn

I didn't know they damaged the database, but I heard there was some shady stuff going on. 😱
